Golf - Friday 25th November 2011

So much for the optimism - no golf report for today.

The rain has been fairly constant all day but the good news is that is is clearing.

I have it on good authority that there is sunshine on the way and the weekend should be good.

Golf - Thursday 24th November 2011

Rain, rain and more rain..... great for the gardens but not good for golf.

No results to report for today.

Tomorrow the weather forecast is not good but we can always be the eternal optimist and hope that it rains everywhere except Gosford.

Let us hope this rain band will slip away and bring us some good golfing days.

Golf - Wednesday 23rd November 2011

Today was a bit of a fizzer with constant rain all day, however, we did have some diehards who braved the WET conditions with some acceptable results.

The Golf Event of the day was a Men's Single Stableford + 2 Ball Aggregate.

We had 27 diehards with 2 visitors from Terrigal & Everglades.

Golf - Tuesday 22nd November 2011

We had a great day for golf today in spite of the dire weather warning of heavy rain - the course stayed dry
until late afternoon when our golf was finished.  We did have some overnight rain which made the course slow but the girls came in with some great scores - especially considering that it was Pro Shop Day where the A Graders were to hit off the Men's Blue tees, B & C Graders the Men's White tees.  It was a fun day and we all had a good time trying to reach the extra distance.  I was very impressed that a lot of our A graders made it across the water at the 3rd tee from the blue markers.

The Golf Event of the day was the ANNUAL PRO SHOP DAY. Division 1 played from the blue markers, and Division 2 and 3 played from the White Markers, Single Stroke over 3 divisions. Scott Cubis - our Director of Golf was at Presentation to present the trophies to the winners.

We had 54 starters with visitors from Bermuda Rum USA and Terrigal.

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE DAY as reported to me: Carol Farrell played a steady game with some good chipping and putting; Fay Bailey, Ann Baker, Lorraine Linnert all cleared the water from the blue markers at the 3rd (Impressive); Lorraine Linnert drove to the green on the 14th for an easy par but unfortunately no NTP for her grade; Ann Baker's drive at the 14th was heading out of bounds, hit the side post, reflected to the bunker and then reflected onto the green - a well placed shot; Judy Verlander chipped in on the 4th; Robin Incoll had a par on the 5th; Fay Levenspiel had a gobbler at the 3rd; Lesley Gregory had a lovely gobbler putt on the 2nd for a par and a par on the 12th; Georgina Lamb had two pars in a row at the 14th and 15th; Kath Small's highlight was having a trouble free round after the 12th hole - 10th hole lost a ball, 11th hole lost a tee & 12th hole almost lost her skirt - but a quick adjustment seemed to fix all the problems and she had a trouble free round after that.

F-Troop - Monday 21st November 2011

Whew! Another big morning of work by F-Troop. Thank goodness it was much cooler than yesterday or we would not have made the distance.

We had 15 volunteers today which was fantastic as there was a lot of pick up to be done around the course with the high winds of yesterday.

Our volunteers today were Martin Gallagher, Duncan Dyer, Geoff Bridge, Peter Martin, Garry Trigg, Bruce White, Richard Casey, Rob Benson, Warren Gray, Des Wilson, Di Beechey, Anne Burgess, Yvonne Wilson, Georgina Lamb and Jan Martin.

Our 'tree gang' of Martin Gallagher, Duncan Dyer, Geoff Bridge, Des Wilson, Garry Trigg and Bruce White took care of cutting up and removing a lot of the timber from the 18th tee to our storage area for next year's firewood sales.  Next week should see that mammoth job finished.

Di Beechey and Anne Burgess had a busy morning starting very early in the front car park & then moving to the BBQ area, 4th tee garden, 12th garden & weeding of the Blue Ice Conifers, the 7th tee and the 15th garden.

(Note to Members:  A small red bellied black snake was spotted in the BBQ area gardens near the "Kangaroo Paw" garden - so take heed of the warning sign when you are near this area.)

Warren Gray & Rob Benson put two loads of mulch on the 17th garden as well as doing rubbish pick up around the course.

Peter Martin & Richard Casey were on pick up duty around the course & raking of some tees and areas.

Georgina Lamb worked with me at the 17th garden finishing off the weeding of the garden & trimming some of the camellia trees. This garden is full of colour with the Agapanthus now coming out in flower. We also planted another nice white flowering shrub that should grow nicely there.

Yvonne & Des Wilson went out after morning tea to attend to their adopted gardens at the 3rd, 5th, 14th and 15th.

Morning tea was very welcome by the F-Troopers after a hard morning's work.  Chef John excelled himself providing us with a devonshire tea and some sweet bites.  Thanks Chef John!

After all the rubbish pick up the course should look much improved as we have had a lot of loose timber coming down in the last few weeks.

Golf - Sunday 20th November 2011

The Summer heat took it's toll on some of us today with a hot humid day to start with that was somewhat relieved with a late southerly change in late afternoon and some welcome showers later in the evening.

Our playing partners today were Mark & Anne Stimpson who were, as usual, great company & pity about the golf. None of us played outstanding golf however we did have some good chip shots and occasional good putts to give us some highlights.

The Golf Event of the day was a 2 Ball Team + Single Stableford  Mixed Men and Ladies.

We had 79 starters with one visitor from Nambucca Heads.

For the first time ever - we did not have any winners present in the clubhouse for presentation so I have taken some candid photos around the room at Presentation in lieu of winners.

Golf - Saturday 19th November 2011 - Men's Foursomes Championship 2011

It was a very hot sunny day for the 2011 Men's Foursomes Championship which was much better than having a rainy day.  We also had one garden wedding and two wedding receptions at the club which has made it a very busy day.

The Golf Event of the day was the MEN'S FOURSOME CHAMPIONSHIP 2011.

We had 102 starters + 38 daily event players.
