We had 86 starters with 11 visitors from Castle Hill, Everglades, Marrickville, Russell Vale, South West Rocks, Toukley, Tuggerah Lakes, Woolooware & Wyong.

Golf - Thursday 22nd July 2010

It is a shame that we had such a small field today as the course was not in bad condition and the weather was kind to us - even though there was a brisk breeze to keep us alert and focused only the late players got the few light showers that were around. The greens are in beautiful condition and are a pleasure to play on.

The Event of the day was a Single Stableford Over the Field and we had 16 starters with one visitor from Tuggerah Lakes.

In conjunction we had the first round of the Singles Knockout in which 16 players participated making 30 players out on the course.

I participated in the Singles Knockout and my opposition was Julie Hazzard. We had a very competitive, but friendly day with a neck to neck battle to the 14th when Julie pulled out her big guns and won the next three holes. Our other playing partners were Helen Stuart & Robin Incoll who were a pleasure to play with and the matches were played out in the right spirit and we all enjoyed the day.

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE DAY as reported to me: Christine Drakeford had a birdie on the 5th after a nice drive to the green and a good putt in; Dawn Tromp was on the 10th green for 3 shots; Lynn Puiatti had no wipes today; Julie Hazzard had a great chip over the bunker on the 14th to give her an important win on the hole; Robyn Johnston squared the hole on the 10th after putting her T-shot into the dam; my highlight of the day was squaring or winning the holes that I was down one shot on & getting a good chip shot to the 10th green narrowly missing the bunker.

Golf - Tuesday 20th July 2010

We were fortunate with the weather today given the grim forecast of showers the previous day. We had a lovely sunny day with a cool breeze that kept the temperature down until lunchtime. The course is drying out well and all the big scores are returning.

My playing partners today were Yvonne Wilson, Silvia Lee and Michele Kennett and we had a lovely pleasant day on the village green with lots of highlights, the best of which was Yvonne's score of 38 points that brought her in the winner of Division 2.

The Event of the day was a Single Stableford + 2 Ball Aggregate plus Grandma & Great Grandma's Trophies and we had 86 starters.

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE DAY as reported to me: I was in the last group in today so I did not have time to gather many highlights - Yvonne Wilson had 3 pointers on 1,3,5,7,16 & 18; Michele Kennett played the 18th beautifully for her 6/4; Sheena Asken parred the 9th; Lorraine Bignall played out of the bunker on the 8th to score 3/4; Doris Morris followed up her good score of 41 points on Sunday with 39 points; Judy Verlander had 4/4; Robin Incoll had 3 pointers at the 7th,8th & 9th; my highlight was getting three 3 pointers in a row.

F-Troop Monday 19th July 2010

We had a very busy F-Troop day working with a skeleton crew we managed to get through quite a bit of work.

On duty we had Martin Gallagher, Duncan Dyer, Geoff Bridge, Peter Martin, George Foster, Des Wilson & Yvonne Wilson.

Martin, Duncan & Geoff removed a dead tree and created some more split timber for firewood sales. After morning tea Martin & Duncan did some firewood deliveries around the coast.

Our timber sales have been going really well - our total firewood sales since we first started are gross sales of $2,250.00 with more sales to come. This has been a real boost to our many F-Troop projects. A big thank you to all our members who have supported our firewood sales.

Des worked in his capacity of Project Manager for the pro shop renovations. Yvonne assisted him & later worked out on the gardens.

George Foster helped me with some pruning work around the course. We pruned three crepe myrtles at the 5th, tidied up the sculptured lilly pilly on the 10th, removed the trunk of a dead tree fern at the back of the 10th tee & trimmed the tibouchina in the garden at the 1st tee. With Peter's help we also picked up some rubbish around the course.

Peter helped with the rubbish pick up and assisted with some labouring in the pro shop by removing rubbish with the gator.

I finished the day by cleaning up the garden at the 1st, raking up sticks and rubbish & weeding the garden ready to put in some more good garden soil in readiness for new plants.

F-Troop morning tea was a real treat. As well as some delicious fruit pastries from John's kitchen - Thanks John!, we also had a variety of yummy cakes from Leanne Binns which went over really well. Thanks Leanne - that made our day! We had a visit from George Brand who has previously donated many plants for our gardens. George was very impressed with morning tea & said he may be back next Monday.

Given our reduced number of helpers I was really impressed with how much work we achieved.

Golf - Sunday 18th July 2010

We had the most brilliant day for golf today, blue sky and sunshine all day with a little breeze to aid with the drying up of the course but not enough to interfere with the golf. The course has dried up really well with just a few messy places which are clearing rapidly. We had some great scores come in today which leaves some of us (me included) scratching for excuses for bad play.

The fairways and especially the greens are in great condition & the greens staff & greens committee should be congratulated for a job well done in such adverse conditions in the last month.

Our playing partners today were Clyde & Lyn Cruickshanks who were great company. We had some good highlights including a birdie each from the boys. The boys beat us for the keno ticket at the 16th hole with some very lucky shots & two 4 pointers helped a lot. We are playing them double or nothing in our next rematch.

The Event of the day was a 2 Ball Team + Single Stableford Mixed Men and Ladies.

We had 90 starters with 7 visitors from Everglades, Taree, Terrigal & Tuggerah Lakes.
