Ladies 2008 Christmas Party and Presentation

We had another great day at our 2008 Ladies Christmas Party and Presentation. The Clubhouse was a picture of Christmas Cheer and full credit to our Ladies Committee and the Ladies Social Sub-Committee for a wonderful effort in putting the day together.
The year end results were detailed in the previous posting.
As there were so many trophy winners between the Vets and the grade results I did not take individual photos of each trophy winner. There are some more photos coming in from other photographers today so hopefully we will collectively have everyone covered. In the attached photos I have included the trophy winners and raffle winners on our table and overall we did not do too badly. I was getting a little put out by the time we got to the last raffle draw & I had not got a prize. If I cannot get a golfing trophy each year then I can just about always win one of the raffles. Low and behold on the last draw of the day my number came up and I won a bottle of wine and some chockies - so all is forgiven.
We had some really good entertainment put on for us from some of our girls who shall remain nameless to protect the innocent. I do have a video, however I have made an executive decision not to show it on the blog. The cameo was enjoyed by all & well done girls.
Congratulations to all the winners today! As for us loosers - well, we will be back next year with great resolve to be on the winners list for 2009.
It was really good to see some of our retired members at our luncheon today as they are such an inspiration to us.

We had nibblies and drinks in the Magnolia Room followed by a lovely lunch in the Sunset Room- Compliments to John & all the staff in the clubhouse.

F- Troop - Monday 1st December 2008

We had another good turn up of F-Troopers today working through a very hot day. Those that I am aware of were Des Wilson, Gary Sammons, Warren Gray, Spencer Walklate, Martin Gallagher, Doug Incoll, Neil Hancock, Yvonne Wilson, Anne Burgess, Clyde Cruickshanks, Duncan Dyer, Ray Presdee, Garry Trigg, Mark Stimpson, John Coddington and Peter Martin. I was a bit of a non event today as I had other priorities (shock, horror!) however I did manage to get the roses pruned & sprayed. I know a lot of clean up work was done on the 6th as well as general pick up of large branches after the wild winds of last week; rough cutting and the removal and replacements of the events sign to the front of the club was a priority today. I spotted Anne Burgess doing some watering of the plants, Duncan Dyer, Peter Martin, John Coddington & Mark Stimpson working on the placing of the events sign at the front of the club.
So, yes, once again WE HAVE MADE A DIFFERENCE!

Golf - Thursday 27th November 2008

Today was the Thursday Ladies Golf Closing day for the year. The event of the day was a three person ambrose and we had 57 starters. It was a lovely sunny day and many turned up in Christmas shirts to add some atmosphere to the day. A BBQ lunch was well attended at the end of play and we had a good day for it. From the look of the photos everyone had a super day to finish off the formal golf for this year. With Christmas coming up we now go into the Summer Competition and return to formal competition after the silly season in 2009.

My thanks to Yvonne Wilson who volunteered to be fill-in photographer for me today. I did get caught up with appointments and the Presentation was all over by the time I arrived. My X-ray results revealed some lovely friendly words like "mild', "normal", "moderate', "minor", "minimal' and "reasonably well preserved" which is not too bad for an "elderly lady" so I am feeling confident that I will be repaired in a very short amount of time and be ready to participate in the Summer Competition.
