The Late Patricia Stimpson

Our deepest sympathy to Mark Stimpson who’s mother Patricia passed away this afternoon.  Mrs Stimpson was in her late 90’s and up till 2019 had led an independent very healthy life and has always been a huge support to Mark and his sister Anne.

The funeral will be held at Tumbi Vale Uniting Church, Beckingham Road, Tumbi on Monday 13th January 2020 at 11.00 am

Rest In Peace Patricia.

It was a nice cool day for working on our projects today and we had a good number of volunteers which was a good help with our projects.

On hand were Trevor Harrison, Kevin O’Brien, Duncan Dyer, Matt Carroll, Rob Benson, Terry Coyle, Peter Martin, Don Nicholls, Ron Gowing, John Hollebon, Di Beechey and Jan Martin.

Projects worked on were major course clean up of loose timber and rubbish, firewood preparation, clean up under the clubhouse, 1st and 10th tees, wedding garden and practice nets, hedge maintenance, watering gardens where possible, seasol treatment of the hedge,gardens and trees at the 12th green, maintenance to gardens at the 15th, replacement of the water tap at the 14th bush toilets, cleaning of bush toilets, mulching green space gardens, maintenance, weeding and watering green space gardens, watering pots at the 6th tee, bike garden, ladies 9th tee garden, 9th green pot, wedding garden pots, maintenance to the BBQ Gardens.

We all appreciated morning tea after a hard mornings work.



We have upgraded our wood splitter machine to a 65 ton splitter.  Our old 20 ton wood splitter is now up for sale for $350.00. Contact us if you are interested in purchasing it.

We had a much more pleasant day for golf on the Village Green today with a cooling breeze which did get somewhat gusty in the afternoon.

Our playing partners today were Michael Cheetham and Karen Askins and we had a very happy day on the Village Green. We did have some highlights the best of which was Karen’s 3/4 on the 8th hole.

The Golf Event of the day was a Single Stableford forMen and Ladies + 2 Ball Team.

We had 81 starters with 3 visitors from Terrigal and Shelly Beach.

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE DAY -as reported to me: Michael Cheetham was pin high on the 17th for 4; Karen Askins was a steady player getting some good 3 pointers and a 4 pointer on the 8th; Peter Martin almost got a birdie on the15th; Duncan Dyer had a nice 38 points following up his medal win yesterday; Clyde Cruickshanks should have run up and taken the pin out at the 8th so Lyn could have (should have) had a hol-in-one on the  8th instead of having to settle for a nearest the pin of 8cms, Clyde also canned a 15 footer for a birdie on the7th;  Bert Brink enjoyed the company; Russell Willings was attacked by wildlife at the 6th - an irritated bee; Lorraine Bignall was also attacked by wildlife at the 4th - a red ant; Lorraine Bignall and Melanie Forster beat the boys for the Keno Ticket; Kevin O’Brien had 3 shots to get past the ladies tee; Russell Willings got 2/3 birdie and the girls squared with 3/3; Melanie Forster 3rd shot to the 18th up onto the green and scored 5/3; Wally Robertson had 4/4 birdie on the 18th and got kisses from the girls; Rhonda Robertson - the birthday girl had a nice 36 points; Garry Baillie had a gobbler birdie 3/5; Ray Buttsworth had a good putting day for his 40 points; my highlights were finishing with the same ball I started with and enjoying good company + getting more than 30 points.

The Golf Event of the day was a Men’s Single Stroke - Monthly Medal

We had 172 starters with 3 visitors from Toukley, Camden and Gungahlin Lakes. The temperature reached 44 degrees and was difficult weather to play golf. Needless to say 26 of the players did not finish no doubt finding it all too hot.

The first day of 2020 was celebrated by a game of golf at the Village Green.  The weather was not too bad with a cooling breeze to make golfing comfortable.

Our playing partners today were Steve and Geraldine Turner who were great company and contributed to our many highlights - the best of which was birdie from Steve at the 16th and 5/3 par from Steve to win the Keno ticket from the girls.

The Golf Event of the day was a Graded Medley Stableford.

We had 160 starters with 6 visitors from The SGA, Everglades, Windsor, Toukley, Kooindah Waters.

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE DAY as reported to me:  Big cheers to Trevor Harrison for his Hole-in-one on the 8th; Steve Turner had a great birdie at the 16th and  had some good 3 pointers including a 5/3 on the 18th to beat the girls for the Keno ticket; Geraldine Turner played a steady game including some good 3 pointers; Peter Martin scored some nice 3 pointers including the 17th hole to win the hole for the boys; Brett Margin had an interesting game today especially at the 15th hole where he finished up knee high in mud at the 15th dam edge where he rescued a ball that ended up not being his ball; Michael Connors had a great sandy birdie shot at the 15th; Robbie Whyte had 39 points which included 5 birdies; Kenny Kirkwood birdied the14th hole and won nearest the pin; Michael Cheetham Birdied the 10th; Mick Grant birdied the 10th; Michael Reinhard birdied the 3rd; Jon Bell had an Eagle on the 10th; my highlights were enjoying good company, coming in runner up in D Grade with 39 points and finishing with the same ball I started with.
