The Late Chris Shaw

It is with great sadness that I have heard of the passing of Chris Shaw - one of our long time lady members who has lost her long term battle with cancer last night.

This news will be a shock to a lot of people who have been playing golf with Chris right up till last week.

Our deepest sympathy to all of chris’ family.

We had a great day playing a Team 1 x 2 x 3 in great weather. My playing Partners were Lynn Puiatti, Lauren Matterson and Kay Walker and we had a very enjoyable day with some good highlights and 3 pointers, the best of which was two 4 pointers from Kay.

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE DAY as reported to me: It was a bit chaotic today with everyone coming in a once but I think I can safely say that everyone enjoyed good company and joined in the day by wearing cheerful Christmas shirts. Alice Collett enjoyed a nice 4/4 at the 1st; Kay Walker had 7 points on the first two holes we played; Kay Baillie had a buggy chase through the bunker when it ran out of control.
BEWARE OF SNAKES: We were confronted with a Red Bellied Black Snake that was slithering across the Ladies 3rd Tee towards the big tree close to the water while we were teeing off.

F-Troop - Monday 3rd December 2018

After yesterday’s wild winds we had a lot of damage to clean including a huge branch that came down on the 10th tee (thankfully nobody underneath it)

New garden edges at the 14th Bush Toilets

On hand we had Duncan Dyer, Kevin O’Brien, Trevor Harrison, Don Nicholls, Clyde Cruickshanks, Garry Trigg, Ron Gowing, John Hollebon, Andy Henebury, Terry Coyle, Peter Martin and Jan Martin.
Projects worked on today was clean up of the fallen branch on the 10th, tree maintenance, general pick up of rubbish and loose timber around the course, tidy up around the clubhouse, 1st and 10th tees, wedding garden, hedge maintenance, trimming of the camellias in the Wedding garden, cleaning of the bush toilets, new garden edge around the gardens at the bush toilets, painting of the boundary fence at the 18th, trimming back the damaged roses at the putting green and Wedding Garden, watering the pots at the 6th, bike garden and Ladies 9th tee garden, planting in of more succulent ground cover plants at the 6th tee.

Morning tea was very welcome after a hard mornings work.

Chris and Rene Dekker who graced us with their appearance a Gosford Golf Club today - great to see you back here!

The day was threatening 34 degrees but we were saved by some afternoon breezes/strong wind that at least kept the flies at bay. We had a great day on the Village Green enjoying the company of Terry and Sandra Coyle. We did have some highlights with some great putting from Sandra and Terry, some near birdies and some good 3 pointers. 

The Golf Event of the day was a Single Stableford + 2B Aggregate Mixed Men and Ladies.

We had 67 starters with 3 visitors from Overseas and Forster/Tuncurry.

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE DAY as reported to me: The club organisers were far too quick for me tonight with the results - I did not have time to do the rounds of the tables to get highlights of play today. My highlight was getting more than 30 points and finishing with the same ball I started with. Another highlight was having Rene and Christine Dekker playing here from Tuncurry/Forster.
