The Course is open today but is very wet.  No carts are allowed but those who are keen enough to walk the course can play.

The showers have continued...... we are all "over" the rain I am sure.

The course is closed today and will be reviewed again before golf tomorrow.

Golf - Tuesday 4th April 2017

The wet weather continues and today the course is closed so there is no Ladies Competition.

The course was very wet yesterday so no doubt the overnight rain has contributed to the closure.

Let us hope we get enough sunshine today the let the course drain away enough for tomorrow's competition.

We had a rain sodden track today with a few social golfers out.

The scheduled Ladies Pennant Matches were postponed due to

the condition of the course.

Given it was a showery day we were lucky to have enough volunteers to get some projects done at the front of the clubhouse which meant we did not have to take heavy machinery out onto the course.

The course was very wet after overnight rain and continuing showers.

On hand were Kevin O'Brien, Trevor Harrison, Duncan Dyer, Geoff Bridge, Rob Benson, Terry Coyle, Garry Trigg, John Hollebon, Don Nicholls, Peter Martin, Di Beechey, Anne Burgess and Jan Martin.

Projects worked on today were further trimming of the hedges in front of the clubhouse, trimming and tidy up of the front street garden, tidy up of the BBQ area and club surrounds, cleaning of the 14th bush toilets, clean up of the drain blockage at the back of the 14th tee, tidy up of the gardens in the green space at the 14th, intensive weeding, raking and sweeping of the Tranquility Garden at the 6th Tee. 

Morning Tea was welcomed after a big effort today.  Thank you to Barto for the supply of our morning tea selection.

Results of the District Pennants Finals - Sunday 2nd April 2017

RESULTS OF THE PENNANTS FINALS.

A GRADE:

TOUKLEY defeated SHELLY BEACH.

B GRADE:

WYONG defeated TOUKLEY.

C GRADE:

The Final was played between Toukley and Kooindah Waters which was all square when play was ceased due to poor light and weather during the afternoon. The playoff will continue next Saturday. Gosford was knocked off the top position in this group at the last minute by Toukley to claim second position. A good effort by Team Gosford led by President Paul Scholberg.

We had a mixed bag of weather to contend with today with passing showers for most of the day. Our playing partners were Duncan and Rosie Dyer and we had mixed feeling about braving the weather. We bent to pressure and went out to face the elements and found the course wet in places but overall well drained considering the amount of rain that has fallen in the last week. We did have some highlights, one of which was finishing in a reasonable state - not dripping wet as we thought we would be.  There were some good scores that come in today so some of us found it not too hard or bad.  The village green is very green at the moment and will improve a lot with the recent maintenance to the greens.

The Golf Event of the day was a Texas 4 Ball Team Stableford.

We had 36 starters.

Highlights of the day as reported to me: Clyde Cruickshanks had birdies on the 1st and 12th, Kevie O'Brien (having no consideration for his playing partners) had 4 shanks to the opposite fairways, Lorraine Bignall had a par on the 1st and the 15th, all the team members were on the 15th green for 2; Nigel Asken, Sheena Asken, Steve Robinson and Liz Robinson had a credible 124 points with Liz Robinson being the star scoring a personal 39 points; Ron Puiatti had birdies on the 10th and the 2nd; George Foster had a claytons birdie on the 15th; Lauren Matterson had a good personal score of 38 points enjoying the benefit of the Men's drives; Lyn Puiatti and Vicki Foster had no wipes; Duncan Dyer had three 3 pointers in a row; my highlight was surviving the showers, being an improved fairway player and finishing with the same ball I started with.
