We had some rain overnight but not enough to stop business as usual at the Golf Course.

The Golf Event of the day was a Men's Single Stroke - Monthly Medal.

We had 147 starters with 2 visitors from Trundle and Wentworth.

2014 Ryder Cup - information guide

The 2014 RYDER CUP is just about upon us.  Below I have added a website link that will give you all the good oil on the 40th Ryder Cup to be held at Gleneagles Golf Course - about 1 hour 15 mins drive from Edinburgh.

Having absorbed all the information from this website we will all be able to sit back and be lounge experts  - giving advice to the players on the course or anyone else who will listen.

It was such a pleasure to be outdoors today - spring weather at its best.

The Golf Event of the day was a Ladies Sing;e Stableford - Over the Field + Final of Division2 Singles Knockout.

We had 21 starters.

The heavy rainfall overnight meant that there were no carts allowed on the course today as the fairways are very soft.  However the course was playable which was good news and blue sky and sunshine were welcome today.

The Golf Event of the day was a Men's Single Stableford + Teams Event 1 X 2 X 3.

We had 107 starters with 5 visitors from Emmaville, Killara, Leonay, South West Rocks and Tamworth.

Golf - Tuesday 9th September 2014

Happy Days - Blue sky and sunshine and although the course was wet underfoot and no carts were allowed - it was not all that bad.  We did have to take drops out of wet patches but there was preferred lies throughout the green which did help - so we had some happy ladies out there playing golf again today after a rough few weeks of rain.

My playing partners today were Cheryl Davison (Howlong) and Shirley Daly and we did have a good day - never mind the scores.  Our highlight of the day was Shirley getting a good par with some great shots after a long spell off of golf.

The Golf Event of the day was a Ladies GOSFORD BOWL - BRONZE SALVER & LONG MARKERS DAY Single Stroke.

We had 51 starters with 4 visitors from Howlong, Hunter Valley, Merewether & Toronto.

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE DAY as reported to me:  I did not get any highlights reported to me today but I can safely say finishing was one of the popular highlights after a bit of hard slog out there as the nearest the pins indicate.  The balls got caught up and slowed in puddles so your great shot on a dry day was a bit ordinary today.  The blue sky and sunshine was very welcome and I am sure we were all grateful to be out there after a couple of weeks of very discouraging weather. The greens are all back after maintenance so we can all look forward to some great golf days coming up.

F-Troop - Monday 8th September 2014

The Course was so wet today that we could not take out any heavy equipment or vehicles onto the course which meant we had to take care of projects that we could do with those restrictions.

We had eleven volunteers which was helpful as there were a lot of jobs to get done.  We had Duncan Dyer, Trevor Harrison, Geoff Bridge, Warren Gray, Rob Benson, Don Nicholls, Peter Martin, Anne Burgess, Carolyn Buttsworth, Di Beechey and Jan Martin.

The Tree Gang of Duncan Dyer, Trevor Harrison, Geoff Bridge, Rob Benson & Warren Gray did some good work clearing out along the 17th Fairway.

Peter Martin & Don Nicholls replaced some kitchen taps and repaired a waterlogged plant pot at the 10th.

Carolyn Buttsworth, Di Beechey & Anne Burgess cleaned up underneath the Clubhouse.  Anne also worked at Camellia Way cleaning up the grass garden.

I was allowed to take my work cart out to the 14th Garden where I removed a lot of small palm trees that had seeded up through the garden and generally cleaned up that area.  Anne Burgess helped me to do some weeding and cleaning up at the 15th Tee and at the Bush Toilets.  We also removed some Fireweed from the 13th fairway.

Morning Tea of small cake slices was welcomed - Thank you Chef Brad!

It is amazing just how much cleaning up needed to be done after all the rain.  Loose timber pick was not possible today due to the restriction of vehicles on the course.

The Charity Day programmed for today had to be cancelled due to the state of the course and carts were not allowed on the course.

Carts will not be allowed on tomorrow either - so it will be a bit of a slog through the wet. We did have social golfers on the course today who said it was not too bad - but very wet underfoot.

YES!  WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!
