Golf - Sunday 7th September 2014

The Golf today was a non event for the most of us. There was a few brave hearts who went out for a social hit and I believe there were some early morning social groups out.

The occasional showers have been relentless - just when we thought it was safe to go out on the Village Green!

No carts have been allowed due to the delicate state of the course .  We need some sunshine and wind to dry the place up so we can get back to what we do best.

Anyone booked in for the Charity Day tomorrow should check with the Pro Shop regarding the conditions of the course in the morning.

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY TO ALL OF OUR FATHERS TODAY.  HOPE IT WAS A NICE RELAXING DAY AND YOU WERE ALL SPOILT ROTTEN LIKE YOU SHOULD BE!

Golf - Saturday 6th September 2014

The forecast showers were spot on today with us having to suffer rain on and off all day and no carts allowed on the course.  The course was very wet from continuing showers all week making it tough going for some - but not all as you can see by today's scores.

The Golf Event of the day was a Men's Single Stableford + 2 Ball Team.

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE DAY as reported to me:  I did not get any golf highlights reported to me today because all of the highlights were overshadowed by Paul & Alisha Smith who made a decision last Monday to get married after 21 years and four children together.  Alisha told Paul that this Saturday was to be the day. To which Paul replied - "but that is my golf day".  Not a problem said Alisha - be at the church at 9.40 am, you can make golf by hit off time and I will meet you at the Golf Club when you have finished golf!  ..............and that is exactly what happened.  Alisha was there, looking beautiful in her wedding dress with a glass of champagne cheering Paul in when he played the 18th hole (right in the middle of his back swing for a chip out of the bunker).  What a fun day!

Have we got something to learn from this stress free wedding day? All over in one week flat - isn't that the way to do it!!!!  Rain does not matter because golf goes on regardless.  I have a feeling that the celebrations will go on until the early hours of the morning.  Congratulations to Paul & Elisha and wishing them a memorable and very special day!

NO HANDICAPPING  OR ECLECTICS TODAY!

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE DAY as reported to me:  I was not at presentation today to collect highlights however I thinks every one's highlight would have been one: finishing and two: possibly finishing without getting wet.

My highlight was being able to show the Gosford City Garden Competition judges through our golf club gardens - and the special highlight was not getting wet during the garden inspection.  I think the judges were impressed with our efforts this year and noted some of our improvements from last year's judging.  Keep your fingers crossed that we will at least get a mention at the Presentation Night to be held in a couple of weeks.

My thanks and appreciation to Kathy Small for the Presentation photos.

F-Troop - Monday 1st September 2014

What a magic day we had for the first day of Spring!  Pity about the forecast for this next week.

We only had a small crew today so we all had to put in the hard yards.  We had Duncan Dyer, Trevor Harrison, Geoff Bridge, Peter Martin, Don Nicholls, Di Beechey, Anne Burgess and Jan Martin.

The Tree Gang of Duncan Dyer, Trevor Harrison & Geoff Bridge got some good work done - trimming a shrub at the 8th Tee and undercutting at the12th fairway and including rubbish pick up at the nets.

Peter Martin & Don Nicholls did some rubbish pickup and some plumbing repairs in the Clubhouse and at the 17th water bubbler.

Di Beechey and Carolyn Buttsworth cleaned up underneath the Clubhouse, the BBQ area, 1st and 10th Tees, 3rd and 5th tees and the native garden at the 6th.

Anne Burgess completed the grass garden at the back of the 10th green, tidied up and weeded at the 18th garden and Camellia Way, cleaned up some fireweed around the course.

I helped the boys with the trimming at the 8th Tee, trimmed the shrubs at the 6th Native Garden & removed weeds, removed fireweed at the 6th dam, cleaned up at the bush toilets, checked the Ladies Garden at the 13th, removed fireweed from the 13th Tee and around the dam edge, trimmed the Hibiscus at the 11th fairway.

Morning Tea of Huge Scones with Jam & Cream was very welcome - Thank you Chef Brad.

After morning tea the boys completed the picket fence at the front of the club entrance which is meant to protect the hedge plants that have suffered from accidental breakage.  More rubbish was cleared from the Bush toilet area.

My thanks and appreciation to all the F-Troopers and Greens Staff for their help in having the course the best we could get it for the judging of the Best Commercial Garden in the Gosford Shire.  The judges will be inspecting our gardens tomorrow and hopefully we will get some good results again this year.

YES! WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!
