F-Troop - Monday 7th May 2012

F-Troopers had a full mornings work with all hands on deck for the many projects on our list.

We had 12 volunteers today which was great as we managed to get most of the main tasks completed.

We had Trevor Harrison, Rob Benson, Duncan Dyer, Geoff Bridge, Martin Gallagher, Peter Martin, Warren Gray, Bruce White, Sam Knox, Di Beechey, Anne Burgess and Jan Martin.

The tree gang of Duncan Dyer, Martin Gallagher and Geoff Bridge worked on removing tree stumps from around the course using a new diamond chain for their chain saw which was specifically purchased for this purpose.  They removed the tree stump near the path at the 9th green and another on the 18th fairway.

In addition with the aid of the tractor were able to place the Elkhorn up in the gum tree at the 2nd green & secure it there.  While there they also removed some dead branches overhanging the path. 

Peter Martin, Bruce White and Warren Gray did a great job on rubbish pick up and repairing holes in the paths around the course.

Sam Knox worked all morning wood splitting for our firewood sales.

Rob Benson & Trevor Harrison did a very professional job in repairing the broken retainer wall at the 7th tee.

Di Beechey and Anne Burgess worked hard all morning cleaning up the car park, underneath the clubhouse, the BBQ area, and cleaned all the paths & tees around the course and then helped me with the general clean up around the clubhouse & practice nets. 

As well as acting as a gofer and a supervisor during the morning I did manage to get the 14th bush toilet area  tidied up, the wedding garden area, the practice nets, raked the gravel & lawn area at the clubhouse, watered some of the pots and gardens, some weeding and snail baiting at the wedding garden.    

Morning tea of Walnut loaf was very welcome by the F-Troopers, Mark Stimpson & Col Matterson. Thanks to Chef John for having our morning tea on the ready every Monday.

 Mark Stimpson & Col Matterson  mark the GUR on the course of a Monday morning & during the week and do a great job.

Our wood sales are starting to happen as the days get shorter.  We have had sufficient sales to enable F-Troop to purchase a good light hedge trimmer that we can use to keep the smaller hedging jobs under control.  Get your order in now for wood and remember that all proceeds go towards the beautification of our course.

Golf - Sunday 6th May 2012

What a picture perfect day for golf today - blue sky and sunshine, the course in great condition - what more can we ask for?

Our playing partners were Duncan & Rosie Dyer who were great company and they held me together for the 18 holes enabling me to get a good score in spite of being ill with a chest infection.  We did have some good highlights, however we were all square with the boys for the keno ticket facing the 18th hole and Duncan Dyer sank a 30 foot putt to win the hole which did not impress us girls much.

The Golf Event of the day was a Single Stableford + 2 Ball Team Mixed Men and Ladies.

We had 76 starters with 5 visitors from Everglades, Gold Coast, Howlong, Shelly Beach & Toukley.
