F-Troop - Monday 6th June 2011

We have had so much rain on the course that the heavy vehicles could not go out on the fairways today.

We confined our F-Troop projects to the 1st fairway along Racecourse Road where there were trees to be tidied up & branches to be removed.

During the week we were able to pick up some old discarded carpet to use for weed matting so we were able to complete the weed matting project for the putting green garden.

We would like as much old carpet as we can find as the next weed matting project is the huge native garden at the 6th so all donations would be greatly appreciated.

Today we had on duty Martin Gallagher, Geoff Bridge, Garry Trigg, Bruce White, Peter Martin, Warren Gray, Richard Casey, Anne Burgess, Jan Martin & Leonie Casey.  We managed to fill in a good mornings work without the need to go out on the fairways.  There is always work to do somewhere.

Martin, Geoff, Garry, Bruce & Warren worked on the trees along Racecourse Road and the left hand side of the 1st fairway.  We were not able to remove any rubbish from the course because the pick up vehicles could not get to the dumping area - so it will be a bit untidy out on the course until it all dries up.

Peter & Richard did a great job cutting up some of the old carpet to complete the weed matting of the putting green garden including an extra trailer load of mulch.  We only have one more load of mulch to put on next week and this project will be complete.

Anne Burgess worked on her gardens at Camellia Way and the BBQ area.

Richard & Leonie Casey cleaned up their adopted front garden along Racecourse Road which looks so good when it is kept tidy.

We also cleaned up the carpark area that overlooks the putting green, cleaned out the gutters around the putting green, created a new garden at the steps near the walkway to Racecourse Road.

Many thanks to Bruce Binns for his donation of more garden gloves for the F-Troopers.  Thanks Bruce! We do go through a lot of gloves with  our hard work every Monday.

Many thanks to Lorraine Bignall for finding a supply of old carpet for our F-Troop projects.  Lorraine responded to our appeal in this month's newsletter within minutes of the email reaching her. Thanks Lorraine!

Morning tea this morning was very welcome and we enjoyed some lovely mini muffins - Thanks John!

All the recent rain has been great for all the gardens but has caused havoc with the paths & drains so we have a lot more work to do out on the course once everything has dried out.  There is no formal F-Troop next Monday as it is a public holiday so hopefully it will be dry enough for all the rubbish pick up around the course the following Monday.

YES! WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!

Golf - Sunday 5th June 2011

Our course was still very wet underfoot even though we had sunshine and blue skies all day - at least that is my excuse for an ordinary score.   It was actually a lovely day with the greens in good condition if just a little long.  Some of the bunkers were deemed out of play & we had preferred lies throughout the green because of all the rain damage from recent rains.

Our playing partners for the day were Richard & Leonie Casey who were great company.  We did have some highlights from each of us with Peter being the player of the day with some great shots to the green.

The Golf Event of the day was a Medley Team Stableford 1 score to count + Single Stableford for Men and Ladies.

We had 103 starters with 6 visitors from Everglades, Kempsey, Lane Cove, PGA, Terrigal & Toukley + Pennants players.

Golf - Thursday 2nd June 2011

The showery weather has taken it's toll with the ladies disinclined to play in the wet.

There was no Ladies Competition today due to lack of numbers.

The course is OPEN for play but still wet underfoot.

As I write this the warm sunshine is out so the course should be improved by tomorrow.

Golf - Wednesday 1st June 2011

I am sure it will be no surprise to anyone to know that the course was wet today which was not helped by further showers throughout the day.

However, the golf did go on with all the bunkers being deemed GUR.

The Golf Event of the day was a Men's Single Stableford + Teams Event.

We had 40 starters with 2 visitors.
