It was a beautiful day for golf and 231 starters is great to hear, so there are a lot of people out there enjoying the course. One has to feel sympathy for those that scored 40 - 44 points today and only won a ball. The scores lately have been phenomenal & there is plenty of run on the course. I just wish that I was one of them that was scoring so well.

Golf - Tuesday 4th January 2011
We had some lovely cloud cover today to do outdoor things - perfect for golfing and gardening.
I made a start on re-potting some of the lavender plants that are destined for the 16th tee.
At 6.00pm we made some more in-roads to treating the rogue grasses with assistance from Mark Stimpson, myself, Ray Presdee and Martin Gallagher. We covered the rest of the 2nd fairway, most of the 3rd fairway, 12th, 13th and 14th fairways.
The Golf Event of the day was a Ladies Single Stableford - Over the Field.
We had 41 starters with visitors from Terrigal.

F-Troop - Monday 3rd January 2011
We had fourteen volunteers turn up this morning for F-Troop work which is absolutely fantastic considering today is a Public Holiday. We had tonnes of rubbish to pick up in the car park & around the course & clubhouse so it was a case of many hands make light work.
There was some high winds again in the last few days which brought down even more bark & twigs over the already cleaned bits which meant it all had to be done again. Areas covered today were the front car park, side entry path, back car park, BBQ area, around the Clubhouse, Wedding Garden, Putting Green, 1st and 10th tees, 7th tee, 6th tee and fairway, 13th tee, 13th fairway, 14th bush toilet area, 17th tee, 17th dog leg, 17th path to the 18th tee, 18th tee area, 18th green.
The large branches and fallen trees have been picked up which leaves us with our normal clean up routine next week.
Today we had Martin Gallagher, Duncan Dyer, Fred Middleton, Arthur Verlander, Des Wilson, Garry Trigg, Peter Murphy, Kerry Cubis, John Coddington, Peter Martin, Mark Stimpson, Jan Martin, Di Beechey and Jan Walker, one tractor & trailer, one ute, and one car & trailer and we worked from 7.00 am until 10.30 am ( Di Beechey started at 6.00am). We removed load after load of rubbish to the dump and the course was looking much better for the tidy up. The Car Park is now respectable as is the Front Entry & surrounds of the Clubhouse.
We decided to focus just on the clean up work today so very little else got done. There is always more work to be done out there and we could not cover all areas today so there will be more work waiting for us next week.
As it was a Public Holiday we did not have anything special organised for morning tea. With the influx of 14 volunteers we hurriedly organised some tea & coffee with sausage rolls from the Pro Shop & then Chef John arrived in time to supply us with some yummy mini muffins warm from the oven. Thanks John! Much appreciated!
It was a brilliant effort by our F-Troopers this morning. Tomorrow afternoon (weather permitting) at 6.00pm we are planning another blitz on the rogue grasses. Any volunteer who has an hour to spare who would like to help - you would be welcome to meet us outside the Pro Shop at 10 minutes to 6 when we will decide which of the fairways we are going to work on.
YES! WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!
Golf - Sunday 2nd January 2011
My withdrawal symptoms are reducing now that we are back in daily routine at the Golf Course. The Silly Season is behind us, we have said goodbye to 2010 and are into 2011 with great gusto and today have got in some great scores to prove it!. Just one example is 45 points from Vicky Morris who scored 28 points on the front nine holes alone and Keith Potter who scored 48 points.
Our partners today were Des & Yvonne Wilson & we had a good day out on the course even though the boys did soundly beat us for the Keno ticket. We had a New Year's Eve Keno ticket boy's Vs the girls from the groups that celebrated at the Cafe Sicilian and once again the boys won with Wally Bailey contributing 40 points, Col Kelly 39 points, Des Wilson 38 points and our best scores from the girls were Kay Frewin 42 points and Yvonne Wilson 36 points.

Golf - Saturday 1st January 2011 - New Year's Day
We are now back to our normal competitions days and I can get over my withdrawal symptoms about not being able to report on the results and news of the day.
Today was our first competition day of 2011 and we had some great scores in which indicates that the course is still playing well.
The Event of the day was a Men's Single Stableford + 2 Ball Team.
We had 98 starters with 5 visitors from South West Rocks, Toukley, Virginia Qld, & Wyong.
That was a great field considering that the temperature of the day was very high and most people would have been at the beach or at least in the comfort of air conditioning.
RESULTS:
2 BALL TEAM RESULTS:
WINNERS: Les Puckeridge & Col White - 54 points
MEN'S SINGLES RESULTS:
WINNER: Les Puckeridge - 47 points
