We should be very proud of our Pennants Teams this year. They have put in a mighty effort

representing our club in the defence of the BWGA Sterland Shield which we won last year.

Our A Grade Team is in the finals. B & C Grade that played today and won against Terrigal will need to play off for the right to go on to the finals.

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE DAY as reported to me: Yvonne Wilson had a 3 pointer at 18, had a nice par at the 5th & the girls won the Keno ticket; Mark Stimpson had a birdie on the 13th; Keith Morris enjoyed his Harem of Doris Morris, Debbie Grinham and June Bowen; Clyde Cruickshanks had a birdie at the 8th; Lyn Cruickshanks had a good shot at the 8th and won nearest the pin; Ross Drakeford had birdies at the 16th and 18th; Christine Drakeford had a great shot onto the 11th green after safely negotiating the bunker; Ron Dekker had a birdie 2/4 on the 14th; Garry Trigg had 45 points which included birdies at the 1st, 2nd, 10th and 18th holes (Wow!); Joyce Bosley had a birdie 2/4 on the 14th with a duffed chip shot that ran along the ground and into the hole; Rosie Moore from Kempsey had a four pointer at the 1st hole - her shot in hit the flagpole narrowly missing a 5 pointer; Garry Wilkinson chipped in on the 18th for a par; Warren Gray had a birdie on the 1st.

We had another successful wedding today that had 110 or so guests enjoying our facilities.

The rain held off long enough for a very pleasant garden wedding & photos .

The golfing Event of the day was a Men's Stroke - Monthly Medal + Medal of Medals.

Gosford Golfers at the Yellow Piano's 10th Anniversary celebrations

It was a big night at the Yellow Piano Restaurant, Wyoming to celebrate their 10th Anniversary. Trevor opened the restaurant 10 years ago and we were one of their first customers. We have had many nights at the Yellow Piano for various reasons including Christmas, New Years Eve, Christmas in July, Reunions nights, 60th birthdays, our son's wedding and sometimes for no reason at all.

It was a pleasure to be there tonight to celebrate with Trevor & Jody on 10 years of successful business and better still to be able to enjoy the night with some of our friends including golfing friends.

We had a great night & as usual, were the last to leave.

Golf - Thursday 4th March 2010

In years to come you will be spellbound by the beauty at this time of the year of the 2nd fairway on the left hand side as you turn the dog leg. When you have dragged your eyes away from the blaze of purple from the avenue of tibouchinas you will have your breath taken away by the beauty of the lilac, pale pink, white, lavender & brilliant pink of the crepe myrtles that nestle behind the temporary green. At the back of that will be a gorgeous golden penda full of yellow flowers as its name implies. The plants are only in their first year - so give them another two years & they will look brilliant. This area used to be a rubbish dump and not at all attractive to the eye.

All of the above were planted this year and are doing very well. The crepe myrtles & golden penda were funded from the sale of our timber.

We had 26 starters with visitors from Magenta, Mangrove Mountain and Everglades.

Golf - Tuesday 2nd March 2010

Showers were predicted but we managed it through our 18 holes of golf without a drop of water, in fact it was quite pleasant with a bit of cloud cover. Anybody who pulled out due to the weather predictions missed out on a good day.

It was a particularly good day for Judy Verlander who scored her first HOLE IN ONE at the 8th today. In addition to her Eagle at the 8th Judy also had a gobbler and two birdies, winning both the nearest to the pins at the 8th and the 14th. Judy was last seen celebrating at the club with husband Arthur and friends late this afternoon.

My playing partners today were Helen Stuart and Mary Ellis who were great company. Mary tried to pull us into line to be serious players but we managed to bring her down to our level.

We had some good highlights during the day but found the plus scores hard to find although we did get some good ones.

The Event of the day was a Single Par - 3 Grades and we had 62 starters with visitors from Morisset.

PANDORA CHARITY DAY has been organised to be held on FRIDAY 30th April 2010

Shotgun start at 12.30 pm, Teams of 4, 2 scores to count, Single Stableford. Cost is $40 and includes refreshments and a BBQ lunch. Timesheet will be in the Pro Shop at the end of March.
