Golf - Sunday 11th March 2012

It was a fun day of golf at Gosford today.  We had perfect weather for a 4 person "Las Vegas" Ambrose and everyone had a very pleasant day on the village green.  There were Pennants Matches between Kooindah Waters and Magenta Shores before the competition which made the course a busy place however we all managed to have some great highlights.

PENNANTS RESULTS:  Magenta defeated Kooindah Waters.

Our playing partners were Wally and Robyn Johnston and we had some really good highlights during the day scoring three birdies one if which was on the 18th with Peter's drive to the drain, Jan's second shot to the left side of the fairway leaving the trees in play; Wally's amazing third shot threaded between the trees, jumping the bunker and resting just off the green to the left hand side, Robyn's gobbler putt into the hole for a birdie!  We were very impressed with ourselves!  Another highlight to our day was realizing that Wally & Robyn's 50th Wedding Anniversary was yesterday, Robyn's birthday is on the 14th (Wednesday) and our (Peter & Jan's) 46th Wedding Anniversary is tomorrow which gave us plenty to celebrate which we duly did over dinner at the club after Presentation. We had 83 starters with 3 visitors from Kooindah Waters and Yamba.

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE DAY as reported to me: Clyde Cruickshanks, Lyn Cruickshanks, Kerry Cubis and Norma Cubis had 6 birdies and one bogie, Lyn won nearest the pin on the 8th and Norma sank the putt for a birdie; Michael Norman had a birdie putt at the 4th and Pauline had a birdie putt at the 18th; Rae Brown, Graham Brown, Rhonda Robertson and Wally Robertson had a birdie at the 4th; George Foster, Vicki Foster, Ron Puiatti and Lyn Puiatti had a birdie at the 4th with George sinking the putt; Steven Cross, Annette Cross, Doreen Trigg and Garry Trigg had three birdies; Des Wilson, Yvonne Wilson, Col Matterson and Lauren Matterson had birdies on the 10th, 13th & 16th; Brent Frewin, Anne Forrester, Arthur Haviland and Robin Brann had birdies on the 10th, 16th and 18th; Peter Laybutt. Sandy Laybutt, Bill Hutton and Sue Hutton had 4 birdies with Bill having two gobblers; Jan Van Den Berg, Elly Van Den Berg, Spencer Walklate and Tania Burt had a lot of pars and played a steady game; Rick Cranna (Gosford), Jenny Cranna (Yamba), Liz Cureton (Koonidah) and Graeme Cureton (Kooindah) had a good chip in on the 7th;  We had a birdie on the 18th; a birdie on the 8th with Jan's drive to the green and Robyn sinking the putt, and a birdie on the 16th with Peter's drive, Robyn's second shot to the green and Jan sank the putt;
