Golf - Tuesday 1st September 2009

Spring has sprung with a beautiful day for golf and some beautiful golf scores from the girls in spite of the greens being under maintenance and having a rough sandy surface to contend with.
The new ducklings are appearing on the course and new signs of spring are showing in the gardens. The white cockatoos were causing some havock around the greens doing severe damage when they travel in scores and attack one area.
The Event of the day was a single stableford played twice over holes 1 to 9 as the back nine were being maintained by ground staff.
We had 50 starters with a lot of our other players opting not to participate due to the maintenance work.
RESULTS:
DIVISION 1:
WINNER: Rhonda Robertson - 40 points on a countback
DIVISION 2:
WINNER: Yvonne Wilson - 44 points on a countback
RUNNER UP: Pam Witt - 44 points on a countback
3RD: Lyn Puiatti - 42 points
DIVISION 3:
WINNER: Carmen Fitzgerald - 43 points
RUNNER UP: Doris Morris - 42 points
There were no nearest the pins competition today.
BALLS WENT TO: 39 points on a countback.
I had a funeral to attend today and was not at presentation to take photos or to gather highlights. I did call into the club on the way home later in the day to collect the results of the day. From the scores above I would imagine there would have been heaps of highlights with such huge scores coming in from our good players and I am sorry I missed them.
While at the club this afternoon we sat on the balcony with a few of our members and resolved some of the worlds problems.
It was suggested to me that the problem of a new President for the Ladies Committe could be resolved by doing job share - Debbie Grinham and Norma Cubis thought that they could manage this task admirably with no help at all from their friends. One day on, one day off! Hmmmmmm! (just joking)
On a serious note I hope we have some lady members considering filling this years vacancies - as a well run club must have efficient and capable members to control the ship. There are more than one position in need of support from the members.
