F- Troop Monday 18th May 2009

We were down on numbers for our F-Troop work today only having eight of us to spread around the chores. We did manage to achieve an amazing amount all the same.

Clyde Cruickshanks, Arthur Verlander, Noel Fenning, Geoff Bridge, Spencer Walklate, Warren Gray & Peter Martin managed to finish concreting in the rocks at the new garden, remove the tree stump and level up the new seating area. It was all heavy work and a job well done by our troopers. We also did some rubbish removal, raking & cleaning up at the front of the clubhouse, turned over the soil and seasoled the Magnolia garden in preparation for some new pansies which are coming next week, watered the new ground covers & the new garden, the garden behind the putting green and the row of Tibouchinas newly planted on the 2nd fairway, sprayed & trimmed the roses.

It was a Charity Golf Day today so there were a lot of players out on the course which meant we were better confined to an area that did not interfere with play.

Next week we will have a lot of loose timber to pick up after the windy day on Saturday caused some havoc with loose branches. This week we received some very generous donations towards our new garden which will enable us to make some more forward progress with the completion of this area. I did notice that some of our orchids that were planted on the 14th and the 18th are starting to flower which is a good sign that they are happy in their new homes.
