Today was a great day for golf ( for some). The weather was hot - but a little bit of breeze helped along the way. We had an enjoyable day with Vicky & Bob Morris even though the boys gave us a golf lesson - Bob coming in with 44 points and Peter with 38 points. It is always good to bring home the winner.
As most people are aware we have a huge water crisis happening at our course whereby the Narara Creek - during high tide - has back washed into our dam on the 13th causing our water supply to be salt affected. This in turn has browned off all of our fairways.
The only solution it seemed was to pump/drain the dams back into the creek & pray for rain. We have all been in panic mode as our course has been in it's best state for many years & this was a catostrophe. We only had a few days water supply left with at least another two months of hot weather ahead.
President Ron Puiatti was able to negotiate with the local Council and to the credit of the Council Employees and in particular to the Mayor Chris Holstein we have been rescued by the Council making available to us some water from the bore water outlet that is near our 18th tee.
We take out hats off to Chris Holstein for his time & effort he has taken to try & get things right for us. We are hoping for enough water to carry us through this crisis until natural rain kicks in.
It is raining tonight as I write this blog (prayers are being heard) & we hope the gardens and grounds get a good soaking to see us through until the dams are filled.
There is a "King Tide" due tomorrow that will test out all the theories on how we can keep the creek water from back filling into our dams. I will keep you posted on the results.
The Event of the day was a Single Stableford + Team 1 x 2 x 3 mixed Men and Ladies.
We had 116 starters with 3 visitors from Everglades and Tuggerah Lakes.

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE DAY as reported to me: Bob Morris had his 'best ever' score of 44 points which now brings his handicap down to 9.7 which is his 'best ever' handicap. ( he tells me that he can smell the single figure handicap now); Peter Martin had a birdie on the 16th for 3/4 (so my three pointer did not count for the team effort, being a one score to count hole); my highlight was a 4/3 gobbler off the green on the 16th; Vicky Morris had a nice three pointer on the 5th; Sharon Anderson had a great 42 points, getting 3 four pointers on 4th, 7th and 10th; Keith Morris had a four pointer on the 2nd; Ron Dekker had a four pointer - I was told his turning score was claimed to be 23 - however should have been 22 (not bad anyway); Robyn Johnston had a birdie on the 8th; Wally Johnston had a birdie on the 14th; Bruce Binns had three birdies on the back nine 3/4 on the 13th, 4/3 on the 18th and 4/3 on the 10th; Wally Robertson doubled his score from his last game; Judy Mulheron had 4/4 gobbler on the first; Michael Norman had 2/4 on the 8th; Warren Flanigan had 2/4 on the 12th and won nearest the pin; Ray Stapleton had 3/5 on the 4th; Jan Walker had a nice 40 points; Elly Van Den Berg had 4/4 par on the 1st and 2/5 birdie on the 8th and won nearest the pin; Annie brink had a very Happy Birthday and got 37 points including a 4 pointer on the 15th.
Other news reported to me: Ray Presdee scored an Eagle on the 16th at golf on Saturday. Immediately after he sank the putt the " Channel 7 News Helicopter" flew overhead. News travels very quickly apparently.
I was not able to get to the club this week to get the results for Thursday, Friday & Saturday - Sorry about that! I will endeavour to get hold of the results as often as possible to publish them on the blog.
Images attached: With Bob & Vicky Morris at the first; the next group waiting on Peter to hit off at the first - Sharon & Brad Anderson, Doris & Keith Morris; Bob Morris today's singles winner with Captain Mark Stimpson; Sharon Anderson - Winner of the Ladies Singles today; the boys in purple - Clyde Cruickshanks, Ron Puiatti & George Foster. The story goes that George & Ron conspired to defeat the ladies for the Keno ticket by agreeing to wear their matching purple shirts for luck - however they did not tell Clyde; The "club" vote on the shirts;
Annie brink's birthday cake & blowing out the candles; Ron Dekker received his long awaited "F-Troop" shirt tonight & could not wait to show it off.
