My playing partners were Helen Stuart, Fay Bailey and Judy Ruitenberg. We had a great day on the village green with the weather keeping itself under control with just the lightest of showers from time to time. We had some really good highlights, starting with Fay parring the first two holes, I had the longest drive on the 7th ( believe it or not); I had a good 4 pointer at a par 3and did some good chips to the green when it mattered; Helen had some good 3 pointers and Judy had a good par on the 15th; I had a good gobbler shot at the 3rd for 2 points.

The Golf Event of the day was a Ladies Single Stableford with  Mystery Team.

We had 46 starters.

We had a good number of volunteers today to work on our projects and we worked our way between a field of Vets players on the course.

On hand we had Sam Knox, Duncan Dyer, Trevor Harrison, Rob Benson, Mick Grant, David Medcalf, Don Nicholls, Peter Martin, Bev Way, Leeanne Binns, Lyn Bates and Jan Martin. Giving us moral support at morning tea were Ron Gowing, Kevin O’Brien and Carolyn Buttsworth.

We welcomed Kevie back for morning tea while he is still in recovery mode.

Projects worked on today were delivering mulch to the 6th tee; trimming of trees on the 6th tee; spreading mulch and weeding on the 6th native gardens; a start made on the weeding of the 6th tranquility garden; a start made on the weeding of the 4th ladies tee garden; tidy up and watering of the ladies 2nd tee garden and a start made on weeding the mens 2nd tee garden, blowing of the front car park including removal of leaves; blowing the back of the clubhouse; mowing the grass along the walkway 17th to 18th tees; pickup of loose timber and rubbish around the course; removal of camphour Laurel tree shoots from the practice nets garden; removal of rogue palm tree and weeds from the 15th mens tee; pick up of weeds removed from the gardens. 

We all put in a hard mornings work and enjoyed our morning tea of fresh sandwiches.

We had a better weather day for our golf today with only annoying flies trying to spoil our day.

My playing partners today were Helen Stuart, Lyn Cruickshanks and Dawn Tromp. We had some good highlights during the day the best of which was Helen’s drive to the 14th green where she got nearest the pin and had a 4 pointer. My highlights were some good chipping, 40 points and finishing with the same ball I started with.

We had our first taste of summer today - it got very hot by 10 O’clock and we were happy to call it a day.

We had 11volunteers and we did get some great work done.

On hand were Sam Knox, Duncan Dyer, Trevor Harrison, Rob Benson, David Medcalf, Peter Martin, Frank Potter, Leeanne Binns, Lyn Bates, Bev Way and Jan Martin

Projects worked on today were Tree Maintenance; Loose Timber and rubbish pick up around the course; Weeding and watering of the ladies garden at the 2nd tee; set up of watering system at the 2nd tee; mulching on the 7th garden; weeding and trimming at the 6th native garden including whipper snipping around the garden edges and paths; tidy up of the ladies 3rd tee and the 5th tee; tidy up at the 18th garden including pathways.

Morning tea was most appreciated after a hard mornings work. Our new F-Troop shirts will be seen from next week making sure we are visible to golfers when we work.

We had a beautiful sunny rain free day for golf on the Village Green. 

My playing partners were Helen Stuart, Helen Broadbent and Marilyn Caruana and we had some great highlights on the newly sanded greens. The best highlight was Helen Broadbent coming in winner with 41 points. Helen Stuart had 39 points and Marilyn Caruana had a very nice birdie. My highlight was a 4 pointer on the 8th and finishing with the same ball I started with.

 

The Golf Event of the day was a Ladies Single Stableford playing holes 1 to 9 twice + a ladies 9 hole Single Stableford.

We had twelve volunteers today which was a big help towards completing some of our projects.

On hand we had Sam Knox, Duncan Dyer, Trevor Harrison, Rob Benson, Mick Grant, John Hollebon, Frank Potter, Don Nicholls, Peter Martin, Laurelle Freeman, Leeanne Binns and Jan Martin.

Projects worked on today were tree removal at the BBQ garden (working with the arborists); loose timber and rubbish pickup around the course; mulch out to the 7th tee garden; weeding and mulching the 7th tee garden; hedge maintenance; weeding the native garden at the 6th tee;  mowing the front of the garden at the cart sheds; replacing garden edges at the Cart Shed gardens.

We had light showers while we worked but it was not heavy enough to down tools.

We enjoyed morning tea of fresh sandwiches + cake supplied by John Hollebon (thanks John) after a very hard mornings work by everyone.

Our playing partners were Col and Lauren Matterson who were great company. Our. Golf results were not spectacular but we did have some good highlights with Lauren coming close to win nearest the pin on the 8th; my highlight was getting two 4 pointers + getting out of  the bunkers in 1 + finishing with the same ball I started with. George Foster also finished with the same ball he started with. Col did confess to having an air swing with his putter.
