We had a beautiful weather day to work on our projects.

On hand we had Sam Knox, Duncan Dyer, Kevin O’Brien, Trevor Harrison, Rob Benson, Don Nicholls, Peter Martin, John Hollebon, Bev Way and Jan Martin.

Projects worked on today were Loose Timber and rubbish pick up around the course; tree maintenance and firewood preparation; hedge maintenance; garden maintenance at the 18th, 14th, 15th and 7th tee gardens

We enjoyed our morning tea of fresh sandwiches in beautiful sunshine in the beer garden.

We had a lovely sunny day for golf today with a bit of gusty wind from time to time.

Our playing partners were Grant and Kerry Williams who were great company. We had some really good highlights with Kerry being our champion with 36 points. Kerry had 21 points at the turn which was her highlight, my highlights were a 3 pointer on the 1st with 1 putt, a 3 pointer gobbler putt on the 9th and a 3 pointer on the 17th (Pity about the rest)

The weather improved to a sunny day but the course was very wet for the first two hours with heavy dew remaining until mid morning and there were still a lot of puddles on the fairways from the recent rain which washed out all our bunkers again - but they were in play today.

My playing partner was Bev Way and we had a very enjoyable day in the sunshine - both finishing in the 30’s so we were happy.

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE DAY as reported to me: Lesley Gregory had an Eagle 3 on the 10th; Fran James had a gobbler from 110m out on the 9th for 3 shots and enjoyed her 40 points today; Cheryl Davison (at the 8th had 33 points) and went on to get 4/4 at the 9th to get 37 points which gave her runner up position; Lauren Smith enjoyed 6 pars in a row; Vicki Foster had 6 pars included in her 37 points; Lynn Puiatti had two 4 pointers; Glennis English had a gobbler birdie on the 8th; my highlights were a birdie at the 10th, some good 3 pointers which helped me win a ball (from a position of  total of 2 points after the 4th hole).

We had some light showers to rain on our parade this morning but it was not enough to stop us from working on our projects.

Projects worked on were Loose Timber and rubbish pick up around the course; pick up of rubbish in the car parks, firewood preparation, tree maintenance, final weeding of the 7th tee garden, a start made on the clean up of the 14th bush toilets gardens.

We had a great escape from the predicted wet weather that fortunately for us went all out to sea. We had a lot of sunshine with a cold breeze that had our jackets on and off all day.

Our playing partners were Garry and Kay Baillie and we had a very enjoyable day on the village green. We did have some good highlights with Peter being our champion with 35 points.

OTHER HIGHLIGHTS OF THE DAY:

Debbie Flanagan had an Eagle on the 10th and a good front 9 to earn her 41 point;, Glennis English had a birdie on the 10th and pars on the 6th,1st, 8th, 11th, 14th and 15th; Peter Brown had 21 points on the back 9; David Sillick did not reach the Ladies tee on the 11th in 3 = 1st shot to the 18th path; 2nd shot to the tree beside the bins; 3rd shot 15 metre short of the ditch; 4th shot hit a tree and dropped straight down ( wipe this hole but things did get better;, Bev Way enjoyed a good back 9; Lyn Cruickshanks had 5/3 on the 17th and had some other good 3 pointers; Kath Payn had 4 on the 16th; Duncan Dyer had 5/3 on the 10th and had 3 pointers in a row; Rosalie Dyer had a 4 on the 10th; Gaynor Harvey had 6/4 on the 2nd; Lorraine Bignall had a birdie gobbler at the 1st; Fay Bailey has waited 5 years for her 41 points; Steve Turner had 3/4 on the 3rd and 2/4 on the 14th; Alice Diamond parred the 18th; Brett Margin birdied the 15th; Nigel Asken birdied the 14th; Terry Coyle birdied the 15th;  Vicki Foster birdied the 15th; Lynn Puiatti parred the 1st; George Foster enjoyed his 40 points;  Michael Cheetham birdied the 4th and had an Eagle on the 10th. The 10th fairway was shortened due to fairway work but still treated as a Par 5.

+ 9 Hole Single Stableford from the red plates.

The weather was overcast but fined up later in the day. My playing partners were Lynn Puiatti, June Bowen and Vicki Ritchie - playing in the 9 hole stableford event. We had a very enjoyable day with our champion being Vicki who had two 4 pointers and three 3 pointers - a worthy winner with 17 points. Lynn scored a very nice 4/4 on the 4th.

Other highlights - an Eagle for Robyn Krahe at the 10th, Vicki Foster had an Eagle at the 10th  + plus pars on the11th and 15th, Di Thomlinson parred 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 9th, 10th and 11th. Pam Witt parred the 8th.

We had early morning showers but that did not deter the F-Troopers from their projects.

On hand we had Trevor Harrison, Duncan Dyer, Sam Knox, Kevin O’Brien, Rob Benson, Don Nicholls, Peter Martin, John Hollebon, Bev Way and Jan Martin.

Projects worked on today were Loose timber and rubbish pick up around the course, hedge and path maintenance at the 8th, repairs to the yellow garden cart, removal of old red car, watering and maintenance to 18th tee garden, tidy up of camellia way at the 17th, tidy up of 17th dogleg shrubs, finishing the weeding of the 7th tee garden, firewood preparation.

The course was busy with vets players today so we had to dodge some golf balls.

The sun was out for us to enjoy our morning tea of fresh sandwiches.

F-Troop - Monday 10th July 2023

 

F- Troop Morning Tea - Don Nicholls, Kevin O’Brien, Trevor Harrison, Peter Martin, Rob Benson, Duncan Dyer, (John Hollebon, Dave Scifleet, Ron Gowing, Jan Martin)

We had another chilly morning start but it was not as windy as Sunday thankfully. The course was very busy with an 8 o’clock shotgun start Charity Day.

On hand we had 10 volunteers - Trevor Harrison, Duncan Dyer, Rob Benson, Kevin O’Brien, Don Nicholls, Peter Martin, John Hollebon, Dave Scifleet, Ron Gowing and Jan Martin.

Projects worked on today were loose timber and rubbish pick up around the course (and there was plenty of that after the weekend wild wind), firewood loading and delivery, repairs to the F- Troop containers, transporting and laying down gravel to the wood storage yard, weeding around the yellow magnolia tree, hedge maintenance, cleaning the paths around the clubhouse, 1st and 10th tees, putting greens and practice nets, more weeding of the 7th tee garden, watering the new plants in the clubhouse gardens.

We were happy to have a nice sunny spot to enjoy our morning tea of fresh sandwiches.

Another chilly morning but that did not deter our F-Troopers from their projects.

On hand today we had Trevor Harrison, Kevin O’Brien, Rob Benson, Don Nicholls, Peter Martin, Ron Gowing, Bev Way and Jan Martin.

Projects worked on today was Loose timber and rubbish pick up around the course, repair of F-Troop gates, firewood preparation, firewood delivery, clean up of paths underneath the clubhouse, paths to the 1st and 10th tees, paths to the practice nets, clean up of gardens at the 1st tee, clean up of gardens at the 7th tee,  checking on the plumbing problem at the 14th toilets.

We had some nice sunshine to enjoy our morning tea of fresh sandwiches.
