Golf - Tuesday 25th March 2008
Today was a lovely day for golf. The promised stormy weather held off until late this afternoon and the course must have been playing well as there were some good scores in. I did not make it to golf today but eighty others did.
The event of the day was a single stableford with vets in conjunction and was also the first round of the CCWGA Brooch.

Highlights of the day as reported to me: Elizabeth McNamara scored a lovely 41 points to win Div 3 encouraged by her playing partners Alice Collett (3rd Div 2) & Georgina Lamb Runner up Div 2) - what a good combination; Glennis English had 2/4 on 3rd par 3 and 4/4 on the 13th; Leonie Casey had 4/4 on the 7th; Allison Guthrie had two 3 pointers; Sheena Asken had a great 39 points playing off 12 handicap; Robyn Johnston had a nice 35 points after her big win on Sunday; Margaret Mackie had a gobbler on the 1st; Margaret Davidson had 2/4 on the 5th; Sandra Coyle had a birdie on the 16th; Sharon Anderson birdied 14th; Elly Van Den Berg parred the 15th for 4/4; Tania Burt had 3/4 on the 14th; Leanne Moore had a gobbler on the 15th; Lyn Puiatti had 3/4 on the 8th; Judy Verlander had a gobbler on the 7th.
Another highlight reported to me was a big win by our Kath Small while she was overseas in Thailand. Kath played over six matches on five different courses & came out the overall winner & had to carry her big trophy home in her hand luggage. Well done Kath! (Photo of Kath attached)
More Talent in our club was displayed at Orange in the Vets competition there. Carmen Fitzgerald had a big win along with others & I will put in a full report when I get all the playing details from Carmen. Congratulations to Carmen & the rest of the winners.
