We had nine volunteers for F-Troop today which was good for a rainy type of day. We were doing really well with our projects until the rain set in later in the morning and it was too wet to continue.
We had Duncan Dyer, Martin Gallagher, Trevor Harrison, Geoff Bridge, Peter Martin, Don Nicholls, Clyde Cruickshanks, Di Beechey and Jan Martin. Bert Brink was also at the course to survey the course levels for water conservation.
The Tree Gang of Duncan Dyer, Martin Gallagher & Geoff Bridge worked with the contract stump grinder working their way through the scheduled removal of the tree stumps throughout the course. They were on schedule until the wet weather set in and it was deemed too dangerous to use the machinery.
Trevor Harrison, Don Nicholls, Peter Martin & Clyde Cruickshanks worked on replacing all the old garden edge boards at the 6th Native garden and did a great job. It is a large area to cover.
After morning tea Trevor Harrison & Peter Martin worked on the preparation of a new garden at the washbay area near the cart sheds. The boys helped with the mulching at the 6th native garden until morning tea and Clyde also assisted Bert Brink with his surveying of the course.
Di Beechey cleaned up at the back of the clubhouse & BBQ area, planted out some orange jasmine plants at the 15th island (plants donated by Sam Knox - thanks Sam!), cleaned the Bush Toilets and helped me to spread mulch at the 6th native gardens which were trimmed and partly mulched today.
For morning tea we had some huge iced rolls which took care of our hunger - Thanks Chef John!
But for the weather we would have got a lot more work completed.
