F-Troop - Monday 16th July 2012

We had a very small crew of F-Troopers today for various reasons.  We have a lot of people away on holidays or otherwise occupied so we had to make do with what we had.

We had eight volunteers - Martin Gallagher, Duncan Dyer, Trevor Harrison, Peter Martin, George Foster, Di Beechey, Anne Burgess and Jan Martin.  Our thanks to George Foster for filling in while Geoff Bridge is away on holidays.

Martin, Duncan & George were the tree gang and they took care of some needy undercutting around the course.

Peter & Trevor put some hard yards into the measurements and levelling and dug the pier holes for the new cart shed.

Di and Anne cleaned up around the car parks, poisoned the garden path areas & tidied up around the front gardens and wedding garden, cleaned up along the fence line at Racecourse Road,  cleaned up the practice nets, planted out some new plants at the 15th tee; transferred some of the inside pots and replaced them with "rested" plants from our nursery area.

I planted out some Mondo Grass at the Practice Nets garden to define the edges of the garden and to prevent wash down through the garden in heavy rain.  Some of the Mondo grass was donated to us by Wal & Fay Bailey and the balance was taken from our existing wedding garden where some culling was required. The wedding garden area has been trimmed, weeded, raked, and treated for snail attack.

Our thanks to Wally & Fay for their donation of Mondo Grass - it was much appreciated.

Morning tea of mini cakes was very welcome after a hard morning's work.  We had certainly earned it today.  Thanks Chef John!

We got some planning done to replace the rotting garden edges at the wedding garden and to replenish the gravelled paths that have deteriorated with the wet weather.   This project will be funded by firewood sales.

YES! WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!
