F-Troop - Monday 7th February 2011

F- Troopers were out in strength today and appreciated having a cooler day to work in. We needed plenty of help because of the damage caused by the wind and rain in yesterday's storm.
We had 16 helpers which was just fantastic & we managed to clean from the car parks through to the 1st & 10th tees including the wedding gardens and the putting green - carting away truckloads of bark, leaves and sticks.
We had Duncan Dyer, Geoff Bridge, Martin Gallagher, Garry Trigg, Des Wilson, Peter Martin, Richard Casey, Warren Gray, Noel Fenning, Fred Middleton, George Foster, Mark Stimpson, Di Beechey, Georgina Lamb and Anne Burgess.
Duncan, Martin, Geoff, Fred & George made up the tree gang and they managed to clear one third of the 3rd fairway of low lying branches.
Peter, Richard, Noel, Warren, Des, Di, Georgina, Anne & myself manned the rakes and cleaned the front car park, side car park, back entrance to the club, BBQ area, path to the 1st and 10th tees, 18th green area, putting green, wedding gardens, between the wedding gardens and the 1st tee, 1st tee and the 10th tees. It was a mammoth job & we carted away truckloads of rubbish & debris.
Mark Stimpson was on carpentry duties upstairs doing some repair work for Wendy.
I suppose the up side is that the rain has cooled things down and has given the gardens a much needed soaking.
One downside side is the discovery that some low life had tried to break into the F-Troop utility that we had just got donated to us and managed to escape with the wheels off the ute & left it in the carpark propped up on bricks. Another challenge for us.
Morning tea this morning was some beautiful fresh fruit pastries from Chef John. We made short work of them & morning tea was really appreciated after a big mornings work by all.
Thanks John!
Member's will notice that some contract painters are at work on the outside of the clubhouse having started to paint the underneath ceiling and outside walls. They are also refreshing the front of the clubhouse and have already repainted thegazebo in the wedding garden.
The first impressions of the grounds is much improved from our efforts which prompts me to say.....
YES! WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!
