Mother's Day must have worn out some of our F-Troopers this week and we worked with a minimal crew today but that did not stop us from achieving many tasks.
On deck we had Duncan Dyer, Geoff Bridge, George Foster, Martin Gallagher, Peter Martin, Bruce White & myself.
George Foster did a long shift on the rough cutter.
Martin, Geoff & Duncan removed a dead tree from the 1st fairway & did some loose timber and rubbish pick up around the course.
Bruce White did a wonderful job for me in trimming the lilly pilly on the 10th with some help from Peter later in the morning. This tree trims up beautifully & we will make an effort to keep the trimming up to date. Bruce did such a good job I will be referring to this tree as "Bruce White's Lilly Pilly" henceforth from today. Thanks Bruce - it was a harder job than it first looked.
Peter did some on the job training with Craig (greenstaff) on how to unblock the toilets at the 14th & at the same time gave them a clean up for tomorrow's big ladies day. Peter then helped Bruce & I with the Lilly Pilly trim & then collected the rubbish from the putting green from last Saturday's gardening effort.
The club has replaced the stolen toilet cistern in the Men's toilet at the 14th. This is another vandal issue that costs the club a lot of money. Another vandal issue at the weekend was a cockatoo invasion (of the feathered kind) that attacked the 12th green causing damage to the hole and the green to the point that it was unplayable on Sunday. Peter did another on the job training exercise by changing the hole placement so that the golf competition could continue.
The cockatoos also caused some damage at the 13th green. The greenstaff had some extra work to do today in repairing all that damage as best they could.
I trimmed around the lemon Magnolia & tidied the garden at the front entrance, raked & tidied at the ladies 3rd tee and the 5th tee.
Duncan Dyer has donated a work bench for the F-Troop to use when we are painting the furniture or doing repairs. Thanks Duncan - that will be very useful.
We had a lovely morning tea of chocolate cookies and mini cakes provided by chef John. Thanks John! Although there were not too many of us we managed to clean the platter. Yum!
After morning tea Duncan, Martin, Peter & Geoff collected the work bench so it will be ready for us to use next week.
In all, a good days work by the troopers.
