The golf course has been under maintenance & closed for competitions for the last two days with the greens being cored and sanded. As such, the Ladies formal competition had been replaced by a "Fun Day" which meant we would be playing the same nine holes twice. The Ladies Committee had gone to a lot of work planning for this day with special prizes etc to encourage our ladies not to miss out on their golf.
Last night it started to rain a nice slow drizzle which increased to steady rain overnight & continued on with light rain for most of the day. David (our Superintendant of the course) would have been doing rain dances yesterday and would be estatic with todays light rain on the course.
The Ladies Fun Day was a non event which is a shame for our hard working committee with all that planning wasted. I am sure there were a lot of dissapointed ladies this morning as the rain did not look like stopping.
From my own point of view, the F-Troopers had put hours of work into watering a lot of the gardens yesterday as they were so parched from our recent hot weather but we could not get around all of the gardens, so this rain is just wonderful. The recently transplanted Nandina's on the 1st would not be unhappy either.
