F- Troop - Monday 29th March 2010

We had a huge F-Troop day with an excellent attendance by 15 of our troopers which meant that we could achieve many of today's projects. We had Martin Gallagher, Duncan Dyer, Des Wilson, Geoff Bridge, Peter Martin, Arthur Verlander, Bruce White, Doug Incoll, Bruce White, Garry Trigg, Di Beechey, Jan Walker, Yvonne Wilson & Bev Way who all contributed in a big way to various projects.
Garry Trigg did a long shift on the rough cutter.
Duncan Dyer, Martin Gallagher, Geoff Bridge, Des Wilson, Warren Gray, Doug Incoll & Bruce White tackled the renewal of the security fence along racecourse road & did a great job of the removal of the old damaged fence & replacing it all with new wiring. Bruce White & Doug Incoll cleaned out & rearranged our security containers.
Arthur Verlander was my champion today doing all the hard yakka in digging up and transplanting all the nandina plants for the garden at the first & included removing a very old and very stubborn shrub that had to be pulled out with a tow rope. He was very ably assisted by Di Beechey who worked tirelessly with me for hours until the job was done - coincidentally just before morning tea when we put on the woodchip to finish off the garden .
Morning tea was delicious as usual & well appreciated by our workers. Thank you John!
Peter Martin was the goffer between all the jobs & loaded a trailer load of chipbark for the garden on the 1st.
Jan Walker did some raking and watering at the front of the clubhouse.
Yvonne Wilson watered & weeded around the putting green and the wedding garden & later in the morning worked on the gardens at the 14th with Des.
Bev Way mowed the area around "Camellia Way" near her garden at the 18th, planted two replacements orchids that were donated by Helen Stuart & myself in place of the previously stolen orchids, Bev also tidied her garden and the surrounds.
After morning tea Duncan Dyer, Martin Gallagher and Geoff Bridge replaced some more damaged fencing at the 2nd fairway. Doug Incoll & Bruce White did some rubbish & timber pickup around the course. Arthur Verlander did some poisoning of nuisance weeds. Di Beechey did some watering at the gardens at the BBQ area. Peter & I removed rubbish from the gardens at the 2nd, watered gardens at the 2nd ladies tee, the avenue of tibbouchinas, the crepe myrtles, golden penda, abelias at the 2nd fairway, the Ladies 3rd tee garden, the 5th tee gardens, garden behind the 5th green, chinese elm garden at the 6th, tanika grasses at the 17th bunker, the camellias & bougainvilleas along "Camellia Way"
It was a huge workload but made achievable through having more hands on deck. A big thank you to all our F-Troopers who contributed today. Your assistance is invaluable.
YES! WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!
