Golf - Tuesday 22nd September 2009

Post publishing: Wendy Stapleton sent me some photos taken on her mobile phone. Thanks Wendy - you saved my bacon! Photos now attached of our Division 1 (Wendy Stapleton & Helen Potter) and Division 2 (Doris Morris and Margaret Davidson) Champions for 2009 and I believe the others in the photos were some of the loosers!

We were so lucky with the weather today - even though it was very windy and hot at times the predicted rain storms did not arrive which was a huge relief especially for those playing the 36 hole event.

The Event of the day was the LADIES FOURSOMES CHAMPIONSHIPS 2009 which is always fiercly competed by our members. My playing partner was Rosemary Cohen and we played with Rosalie Dyer and Pam Bourne. We had mixed fortunes between us having some excellent holes with good highlights to make our day and bring us back next week.

The Foursomes Championships was played in two divisions. The first Division being handicaps between 0 and 24 1/2 which was played over 36 holes. The Second Division being handicaps between 25 and 45 which was played over 27 holes.

I was not able to stay for presentation unfortunately so I do not have any photos of the winners however I have added some photos of roses from my garden this week to make up.

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE DAY as reported to me: Wendy Stapleton had a gobbler from the back of the green on the 10th; Helen Potter put in some good long putts; Rosemary Cohen had a gobbler on the 10th to give us a par and also played a brilliant shot from near a hazard post (where her partner had put her) and landed the ball neatly on the green near the pin on the 11th and we parred the 16th; Doreen Trigg and Tania Burt had a 4 on the 9th and Doreen had a gobbler on the 18th for a par; Rosalie Dyer and Pam Bourne had a 4 on the 1st and the 7th; Di Beechey was in the trees on the right of the 2nd - hit the tree and the ball rebounded off the tree narrowly missing Norma Presdee; Val Anderson had a birdie on the 6th and Margaret McLachlan birdied the 14th; Sandra Coyle and Kay Adams had a birdie on the 16th; Kay Adams had her longest drive ever on the 18th where she reached the corner sufficiently to view the hole; Rhonda Robertson birdied the 5th; Marianne Lanham and Sue Hutton birdied the 14th; Norma Cubis and Lyn Cruickshanks parred the 9th; my highlight was winning a ball.

Sadly today was Trish Goulding's last day of golf with us as she is moving the live elsewhere. We hope you come back to visit soon Trish!
