Our F-Troopers were working all around the course today like little ants - achievening many good tasks including removal of dead trees; building a bridge between the 3rd & 2nd fairways; new succulent garden at the 3rd tee; picking up timber and rubbish from around the course; cleaning up the gardens and watering at the 1st and 10th tees and the front gardens; lifting the elkhorns into place at the wedding garden.
Those seen working today were Duncan Dyer, Garry Trigg, George Foster, Geoff Bridge, Spencer Walklate, Noel Fenning, Peter Martin, Rosalie Dyer and Jan Walker.
Jan & Rosalie did a great job of watering and cleaning up the gardens around the front of the club and the 1st and 10th tees. That was a huge help to me because it freed me up to work on the succulent garden at the 3rd.
The boys did a great job of the tree removals and the building of a foot bridge (henceforth to be referred to as the "Trigg/Foster bridge") across the water between the 3rd and 2nd fairways.
Placing the elkhorns up the tree at the wedding garden was not a problem to Duncan Dyer & his trusty crew (photo attached). Garry, George & Peter did a pick up of loose timber while Duncan, Noel, Geoff and Spencer efficiently took care of the trees. Peter also did some work towards improving the watering system at the 18th.
I received a nice donation of Agapanthus plants from Bill Dunk today which I will plant out on the 2nd and 17th gardens as soon as time permits. Thanks Bill!
Many thanks to all our members who donated succulent plants for the garden on the 3rd. As you can see by the photos they should look very nice when they mature and it certainly brightens up a previously uninteresting & ugly area. The soil for this garden was taken out of the wedding garden area when we levelled for the path & the rocks were obtained from a storage area around the course where they had been kept from a previous project for future use. The net result was a very cost efficient garden for the club.
