Garden at the 2nd green cleared of weeds and rubbish

It was a wet Public Holiday but that did not stop the golfers or the F-Troopers.

On hand we had Duncan Dyer, Trevor Harrison, Sam Knox, Kevin O’Brien, Rob Benson, Peter Martin, John Hollebon, Di Beechey and Jan Martin.

Projects worked on today were limited as the tractor was not available to us however we were able to achieve some good clean up work around the course.  We did loose timber and rubbish pickup around the course, firewood preparation, removal of a bougainvillea at the BBQ area near the clubhouse, tidy up under the clubhouse, removal of weeds and rubbish from the 2nd green garden, cleaning of the bush toilets

We had a little bonus today - receiving a $10 donation from a passing golfer who appreciated the voluntary work that we do. All donations we receive are put back into the cost of maintaining the course

Morning Tea was appreciated by all - thankfully we missed the worst of the heavy showers.

We were lucky to get an early start today as the day heated up quickly.

We had twelve volunteers this morning which was very helpful as we had some big projects on.

On hand we had Duncan Dyer, Sam Knox, Kevin O’Brien, Trevor Harrison, Rob Benson, Terry Coyle, Don Nicholson, Peter Martin, John Hollebon, Ron Gowing, Di Beechey and Jan Martin.

Projects worked on today were loose timber and rubbish collection around the course, cleanup of the side ditch at the back of the clubhouse, Hedging of the big hedge at the 18th, tidy up of paths around the clubhouse, 1st and 10th tees, practice green, wedding garden and practice nets, weeding and watering of gardens at the front of the clubhouse, tidy up of the succulent garden at the 2nd and removal of garden rubbish, tidy up of the 6th tranquility garden, cleaning of the bush toilets.

We worked up a good appetite and appreciated morning tea.

We were lucky to get some cloud cover today which gave us some relief from the heat. Gusty winds at times caused havoc with the golf. Our playing partners were Michael Cheetham and Karen Askins who were great company. We had some good highlights during the day with some really good chips to the green from Karen who came in with a lovely 38 points and winner of the Ladies Competition another highlight was a a birdie at the 14th from Peter.

Succulent Garden on the second green given a tidy up.

We had a good weather day today and 14 volunteers were on hand to help with our projects.

On hand we had Duncan Dyer, Trevor Harrison, Sam Knox, Kevin O’Brien, Rob Benson, Don Nicholls, Peter Martin, Nigel Asken, John Hollebon, Ron Gowing, Steve Robinson, Adrian Burke, Di Beechey and Jan Martin.

Projects worked on today were Loose Timber and Rubbish pickup around the course, firewood preparation, clean up of the paths underneath the clubhouse through to the 1st and 10th Tees including the wedding garden, putting green and practice nets, weeding of gardens at the front of the clubhouse including the putting green and wedding garden, hedge maintenance and mulching of gardens at the 10th tee, placing of camphor bird deterrent on the flagsticks to protect the holes from bird vandals (I believe Nigel worked out where the missing green was when he finished up with too many camphor sticks) clean up of the succulent garden and pathway at the second green, pick up of rubbish on the 2nd green, mending of fences on the 18th fairway.

We enjoyed our fresh sandwiches for morning tea from the club Kitchen which was much appreciated by our volunteers.

Ladies Christmas Day Results and photos.A great day was had by all and we missed any of the heavy rain. 

The Clubhouse was beautifully set up for our luncheon and presentation and congratulations to our Ladies Section for making it a special day for everyone.

It was great to see some of our retired golfers attending today for a good catch up with friends.
