Golf - Sunday 14th February 2016 - Valentine's Day

Whew! a 42 degree day was very testing but 63 starters was a great result for such a hot day.

Our playing partners today were Col and Lauren Matterson and we had some good highlights out on the village green the best of which was Col's birdie on the 4th for which he collected double kisses as it was Valentine's Day.

The Golf Event of the day was a Single Stableford for Men and Ladies + Team One Score to Count.

We had 68 starters with 3 visitors from Forbes and West Wyalong.

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE DAY as reported to me: Duncan Dyer scored a nice 35 points after being 14 points at the turn, he had a birdie at the 16th for 3/4 and the boys beat the girls for the Keno Ticket; Rosalie Dyer scored some nice 3 pointers and had 17 points on the front nine; Lauren Matterson sank a beautiful gobbler shot into the hole at the 13th for 6/2; Col Matterson had a birdie on the 4th and collected double kisses for Valentine's Day; Peter Martin split his driver shaft in two after driving off the 11th, left two clubs at the 7th which Col had to go back to collect and left his putter at the 17th which was delivered to him at the 17th green by Neville Walker; Clyde Cruickshanks had birdies at the 1st, 14th and 16th; Lyn Cruickshanks had a birdie at the 14th; Spencer Walklate had 3/4 at the 1st; Dick Bosley had 4/4 at the 17th; Brent Frewin had a birdie at the 12th; Robin Incoll sank six long putts; Helen Potter had an Eagle on the 1th from 70 metres; Carolyn Buttsworth saw a red bellied black snake in the drain at the 2nd; Fran James had a nice 35 points; Garry Trigg had a 4 pointer at the 16th and their team had scored 26 points on the back nine; Annette Cross' highlight was finishing and getting into the air conditioning; Kevin O'Brien had a chip in for a birdie at the 16th; Ron Dekker had his first birdie ever on the 2nd and that was after losing a shot on the hole; Lorraine Bignall's highlight was collecting Peter Martin's discarded golf clubs and getting them back to him; I understand that snakes were spotted at the 17th; my highlight was scoring 36 points and winning a ball.

HIGHLIGHT RESULTS FROM THE DISTRICT CHAMPIONSHIPS HELD AT WYONG TODAY:

The District Championships were held at Wyong Golf Course - 12.30 pm shotgun start.

Mitchell Bonett won the C Grade Champion of Champions

Duncan Brown was beaten on a countback for Nett Runner Up in A Grade

An ex Gosford Junior Coby Campbell (now playing at Magenta) won the District Championship with 67 off the stick.
