Roses for Melbourne Cup Day

Flowers prepared for Melbourne Cup Day by the
Volunteer Ladies Social Committee.

We had a very busy day at F-Troop this morning with the weekend winds causing havoc with tree branches - leaving a trail of branches (large and small) with eight loads of rubbish collected from the course.

We had 10 volunteers to share the load.  Trevor Harrison, Don Nicholls, Duncan Dyer, Geoff Bridge, Warren Gray, Peter Martin, DI Beechey, Anne Burgess, Carolyn Buttsworth and Jan Martin put in a good mornings work.

The boys were kept very busy with a lot of the broken timber needing to be chain sawed before it could be removed. It was all hands on deck for all of the boys and other projects were put on hold.

DI Beechey, Carolyn Buttsworth and Anne Burgess put in some hard yards at the 18th garden and then the girls all worked on planting out a trailer load of shade plants that were donated to the club by Ross and Christine Drakeford. Anne and Carolyn planted a rock orchid at the 10th tee, watered some of the gardens at the Wedding Garden and 1st and 10th.  DI and I cleaned up and watered the garden at the Bush Toilets and then picked up a trailer load of rubbish from the 17th and 18th fairway.

Morning Tea of Fruit Pastries was much appreciated.  Thank you Chef Brad!

The course was busy today with Vets Players on the course. We were able to achieve a good clean up project.

Our thanks to Ross and Chris Drakeford for their generous donation of a trailer load of shade plants.
