F-Troop - Monday 24th June 2013

After all the rain of the previous few days and the closure of the course yesterday we had little hope that we might get any of our projects under way today.

We had no rain at all this morning and we were able to complete the main project of the day which was the lifting of the asphalt around the base of the tree in the front car park so that the tree can be removed next Monday.

We had six volunteers to work today which was fantastic.  We could not get out on the course but we did have some good projects lined up that we could do off the course.  We had Trevor Harrison, Peter Martin, Sam Knox Di Beechey, Anne Burgess and Jan Martin to do maintenance today.

Peter, Trevor & Sam worked on preparing and raking the car park and assisted the asphalt contractor to lift up the asphalt and road base assisted by two of the green staffers Peter & Darryl.  The boys also changed over the Professionals car spaces at Scott's request.

I worked on replacing the comquat tree in the wedding garden that was damaged beyond repair when the big tree fell across the wedding garden, raked the rubbish up near the pathway to the tees, putting green and underneath the clubhouse, cut back the overgrown Star Jasmin in the front gardens that was choking the Magnolia trees with some help from Sam Knox, and pruned the roses at the putting green.

Peter & Sam also repaired a refrigerator handle in the clubhouse.

Di and Anne repotted some of the inside plants and gave them all some TLC.

We all appreciated a lovely morning tea of croissants and Jam - Thanks Chef John!

Next week we have a huge project which is the removal of the large tree at the front of the clubhouse.
Members are reminded that the front car park will be closed while this project is in action.  The side entrance to the the back car park will be open so there will be access to the back car parking.

YES! WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!
