Golf - Sunday 25th May 2013

We had a wonderful day for golf today.  Blue sky and sunshine which was very welcome after last week's rainfall.  The course was still holding some water but considering how much rain we had it was not too bad.

Our playing partners today were Garry & Dorren Trigg and we had a very enjoyable day on the course with great company and some of us played good golf (let us not mention names).  We had some good highlights with both Peter and Garry scoring birdies while Doreen and I kicked in with our two pointers when it mattered, sufficiently so that we were not the lowest scorers of the group.

The Golf Event of the day was a Teams Event 1 X 2 X 3 + Single Stableford for Men and Ladies.

We had 80 starters with 3 visitors from USA, Camden Valley & The Coast.

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE DAY as reported to me:  Wally Johnston had 5/4 on the 18th; Michael Norman was on the 18th green for 2 ( 3 foot from the pin) and missed an eagle putt; Fay Bailey parred the 9th; Brent Frewin chipped out of the left bunker on the 8th for a birdie 2/3; Lyn Cruickshank & Anne Forrester both chipped in off the green at the 15th and Lyn putted like a champion all day; Clyde Cruickshanks had birdies on the 8th and the 18th; Lauren Matterson had good company, a good course & a lovely day - winning nearest the pin on the 8th; George Foster & Duncan Dyer beat the girls for the keno ticket; Vicki Foster had 5/3 on the 6th; Duncan Dyer had 9 points at the turn and doubled his score on the next nine; Ron Dekker had less that 10 points on the first 9 and was challenged by Peter Laybutt (who made sure that his score was more than 10)  -" those that did not score 10 points by the turn should run down the 18th at midnight, naked."  Ron Dekker should be joined by Duncan Dyer for those who would want to witness this event ( not this little black duck); Eileen Major had 3/4 at the 12th; Sandy Laybutt & Chris Dekker played well; Garry Trigg had a birdie on the 8th; Peter Martin had a birdie on the 15th; I had a 3 pointer on the 4th and finished with the same ball I started with which says a lot about my game.
