F-Troop - Monday 11th March 2013

We had a sunny working day today so we did get some good jobs done.

We had eleven volunteers - Trevor Harrison, Duncan Dyer, Geoff Bridge, Peter Martin, Rob Benson, Garry Trigg, Bruce White, Warren Gray, Di Beechey, Anne Burgess and Jan Martin.

The main project of the day was the repair of the paths around the course.  Duncan Dyer, Geoff Bridge, Garry Trigg and Bruce White did the hard yards of filling in the holes and in some cases - very large holes that were caused by the recent heavy rains.

Another big project done was the removal of stumps in the front corner garden where the old pines and shrubs were removed.  The old garden has been refreshed with some new hibiscus plants and a hedge of agapanthus - with some more gardenia plants to come.  The garden was then freshly mulched so the area has a good fresh look.  Trevor Harrison & Peter Martin did the stump removal and the mulching.  Di & I did the new plants.

Peter & Trevor also cleaned up a shabby corner of the storage area at the green keepers shed and transported over the newly donated plants to the club front gardens.

Rob Benson & Warren Gray did the hard yards with the loose timber and rubbish pick up around the course.  There was a back up of pick up as we could not get on the course last week to do any clearing.

Di Beechey cleaned up the car park and BBQ area, helped me with planting out two new grevilleas at the 6th native garden and level up the mulching and removing weeds; planted out some more daisies at the 4th tee (plants donated by Brian & Lesley Gregory); watered and fertilized the plants at the 3rd tee; cleaned the bush toilets and watered the gardens at the 14th as well as working on the corner garden at the front of the clubhouse.

Morning tea was very welcome and we enjoyed some Scones with Jam & Cream - Thanks Chef John!

After morning tea Di, Anne & I potted up two plants donated by Arthur & Judy Verlander, planted some tibouchina plants in the wedding garden - donated by Brian & Lesley Gregory; watered the potted Orange Jasmine plants - donated by Sam Knox.

YES! WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!
