F-Troop - Monday 20th February 2012

Another huge day for F-Troop with some good tasks being achieved.

We had 15 Troopers on hand to lighten the work.

Martin Gallagher, Geoff Bridge, Des Wilson, Duncan Dyer, Rob Benson, Richard Casey, Bruce White, Warren Gray, Peter Martin, Nigel Asken, Di Beechey, Anne Burgess, Georgina Lamb & Jan Martin made up today's hard working team.

There was a big Social Day of golf with an 8.30 shotgun start which kept us off some parts of the course however we had plenty to do at the 1st & 10th tees which meant that we could work off the course.

Our tree gang of Duncan, Martin, Geoff & Des removed a dead pine tree at the back of the 11th green that was a full mornings work cutting down the tree and removing the timber.

Rob & Richard did some clean up work around the course before golf started & then worked at the 1st & 10th tees removing the hedge stumps to make room for the relocating of the club signs; removed the signs from the bubbler garden & set them into their new positions; assisted in loading new soil into the garden for the hedge plants.

Warren & Bruce did some good pick up around the course before golf started and then assisted us at the 1st & 10th tees.

Peter collected some new garden soil for the Bubbler Garden, repaired some pots, dug out the old soil from the garden and replaced it with new soil, placed the old loamy soil out onto the path at the 10th.

Di Beechey, Anne Burgess, Georgina Lamb helped me at the 1st and 10th tees preparing the garden, removing and relocating old plants; planting in new hedge plants;spreading out soil on the 10th path

Nigel continued his work on the 1st and 10th tees removing rogue weeds.

It was a busy day and we appreciated morning tea of Bacon Rolls (compliments of the Avoca SLSC BBQ breakfast) and some iced cakes compliments of Chef John.  Thank you from the F-Troopers!

We were able to make headway with the new garden at the 1st and 10th tees because we had received sufficient donations and sales of firewood to enable us to commence to purchase the plants that we need.
We have received funds from Wood Sales to Ian Anderson (thank you Ian) and donations from the Central Coast Leagues Club Social Golfers, June Bowen, Doon Jansen's Art Exhibition donations, Members Donations to our donation box in the Pro Shop : totalling approximately $500.  We have also received some good donations of plants from members over this month which have been appreciated.  We have also received a donation of a lot of old carpet that we can use on the gardens as weed matting  Yes! Members can make a difference!

After the huge electrical storm that we received overnight we did not know what to expect the course to be like.  Fortunately we did not have any major damage and carts were allowed on the course for golf and we were able to get our vehicles out to work.

.YES! WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!
