F-Troop - Monday 14th November 2011

We had an enormous working day for F-Troop today and the extreme heat did not help.

We started early (6.00am) to try to beat the heat and to be able to get the 18th tee cleaned up in time for the 12.30 shotgun start for the Sue Suters Charity Day

The Troopers did a brilliant job with reduced numbers of volunteers to help with a large clean up after some big tree removals.  Two dead trees were removed from the 18th tee area which has opened up the tee and reduced the danger to the power lines that run through the back of the 18th tee.

Today we had Martin Gallagher, Geoff Bridge, Duncan Dyer, Peter Martin, Bruce White, Sam Knox, Des Wilson. Di Beechey, Anne Burgess and Jan Martin together with two professional tree removalists to ensure the safe drop of the big tree at the 18th tee.

It was hard work and we needed all hands on deck for the timber clean up.  The Troopers got most of the trees cut and & moved off the tee leaving some of the largest bits for next Monday - so some more volunteers on hand for next week would be great.

The timber is very high quality burning timber so get your orders in early for next year's fuel supplies so you do not miss out. Contact Martin Gallagher to place your order.

Di Beechey and Anne Burgess cleaned up the BBQ area, having painted the seats earlier in the week to enhance the look of the area.  Anne & Di also planted some new plants in their pond area of the 10th garden.

I was busy doing the hedges around the putting green & the wedding garden area then we all chipped in to help the boys with the tree clean up at the 18th tee.

It was an exhausting day but very worthwhile as the profits from the sale of the timber will go towards the beautification of the course.

Morning tea was much appreciated with Chef John supplying some mini muffins and fruit pastries.  Thanks Chef John!

The Jacaranda trees and Agapantha flowers are out in bloom to enhance the 'yesterday, today & tomorrow' plants at the 2nd and 6th gardens.   We have some beautiful white hydrangea plants flowering at the back of the putting green.   Some purple & white petunias have been planted at the water feature at the 1st so we have some nice colour for the summer months.

YES! WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!
