We had a skeleton crew working today but we certainly worked very hard - and did we ever MAKE A DIFFERENCE!
The rain from last night made the course too wet for us to take out heavy vehicles - so once again there was no rubbish removal able to be done. There were plenty of other tasks and the F-Troopers did a wonderful job of completing some very important jobs.
Volunteers today were Des Wilson, Mark Stimpson, Peter Martin, Ron Beechey, Di Beechey, Anne Burgess and Jan Martin.
The keg room was cleaned out with strong chemicals which required our F-Troopers to wear special safety protective gear. Des, Peter and Mark took on this chore and completed the job with no mishaps and the keg room has never been so clean. Job well done boys!
Ron Beechey took on the huge job of installing and securing the water feature at the 1st with the help of Warren Gray. They did a wonderful job and the water feature will be up and running as soon as the waterproofing of the water tank is completed in the next few days. (If it does not rain).
Ron also secured the new garden feature at the 6th which we hope (fingers crossed) stays in the garden for everyone to enjoy.
Di Beechey cleaned up the back car park & the BBQ area and then helped me to weed the native gardens at the 6th which was quite a chore. We also planted a couple of new plants where the new garden feature is. After that we tidied up the 3rd and 5th tees before going back to the 1st where we helped Ron & Warren finish off the water feature and tidied up the area there.
Anne Burgess weeded around the lemon magnolia, tidied up the 1st tee & helped with the water feature garden. Di & Anne also cleaned out the drain at the 2nd which gets clogged with rubbish frequently.
Morning tea was very welcome and Chef John had prepared warm from the oven croissants that we had with jam. Delicious! Thanks John!
With more rain forecast for this week the outlook is a bit bleak for rubbish pick up however we will get out there as soon as we can.
I have attached some photos of some of the beautiful grevilleas flowering in the 6th Native Garden & it is worth the time to have an appreciation look as you pass by the 6th tee as we have many varieties in flower at the moment.
