F-Troop - Monday 1st August 2011

Our F-Troopers were worth their weight in gold today achieving the daunting task of removing the out-of-control climber at the Men's 10th tee and removing what seemed acres of fireweed from around the course as well as general pick up duties.

We had Duncan Dyer, Geoff Bridge, Fred Middleton, Bruce White, Des Wilson, Zorro (Mark) Sorridimi, Noel Fenning, Peter Martin, Georgina Lamb, Anne Burgess, Yvonne Wilson & Jan Martin.

The tree troopers today were Duncan, Geoff, Fred, Noel, Bruce and Des.

Peter & Zorro  were on pick up duty.

Collectively then all the men took on the removal of the climber & garden at the Men's 10th tee.  This climber will be replaced with something more controllable that does not have thorns. Duncan also took his chain saw to the large shrubs in the bubbler garden that were blocking the Pro Shop staff's view of the 1st and 10th tees.

I started on the new hedge plants and the new 1st tee garden giving them a dose of Seasol & cleaned up around the front steps.  Georgina Lamb watered the gardens at the 1st tee & the helped me to remove fireweed that is raging through the rough & around the dam areas.

Anne Burgess gave her camellia garden at the 18th some TLC and then joined Georgina & I removing fireweed which we did up until morning tea time - clearing the dam area at the 2nd, the dam area at the 6th, the dam area at the 13th & all areas in between as we came across the weed.

Morning tea was more than welcome by our hard workers who had worked non stop from 7.30am.  We enjoyed mini muffins fresh from the oven - Thanks John!

Today was the last F-Troop morning for Geoff Bridge until he recovers from knee surgery.   We gave Geoff a Best Wishes card from all of the F-Troopers as Geoff's staunch support of F-Troop is much appreciated.

After morning tea Duncan, Fred, Noel, Peter, Zorro & myself cleaned up the last of the garden at the 10th and the bubbler garden.  Anne Burgess tidied up around the Magnolia trees in the front street garden.  Des & Yvonne Wilson worked on their garden at the 14th & the gardenia garden at the putting green.

YES!  WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE
