F-Troop - Monday 11th July 2011
The Troopers had a very busy day today with a pile up of jobs accumulated of the weeks of rain that kept us off the course.
Today we had good roll up for such a cold morning with 11 troopers on hand which was very helpful for me. We had Martin Gallagher, Geoff Bridge, Duncan Dyer, Des Wilson, Garry Trigg, Bruce White, Noel Fenning, Peter Martin, Jan Martin, Richard Casey and Fred Middleton.
Martin, Geoff, Duncan, Bruce, Des, Fred & Garry worked on the drains & shrubs on the 8th & 9th making a big difference to a previously untidy area.
Des Wilson also gave some water to the plants at the 14th to keep them happy.
Noel Fennning & Peter Martin were on pick up duty & later worked on the 14th with Richard Casey and myself creating some new gardens at the 14th green to re-direct traffic from the green. Later in the morning Martin,Geoff & Des helped us to create a new path through the back garden to give access from the 14th green.
The cost of this new garden is zero as the plants were transplanted from a garden at the 1st tee.
After morning tea Martin & Geoff completed some repairs to the BBQ door. Richard Casey & Peter Martin repaired a support post at the putting green. I cleaned up the wedding garden & some large sticks from around the clubhouse & putting green area & gave the roses their winter spray of lime sulphur.
Morning tea was very much looked forward to as the early morning had been very chilly and we all worked hard to earn our morning tea which were some lovely fruit pastries fresh from the oven. Thanks chef John!
It was a very busy morning with all hands on deck.
In the coming months we are going to be very short of workers because some of our dedicated troopers are going to be otherwise occupied. Martin has 10 weeks working away, Richard 3 months holidays, Garry a few weeks holidays, George is now working & Geoff will be on sick leave for 6 weeks or so. If anyone can chip in with a few hours support on Mondays for the next few months it would be much appreciated.
YES! WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!
