F-Troop - Monday 2nd May 2011

A rain free day for our F-Troop work was welcome. The course is still wet underfoot but playable.

We had nine starters for F-Troop today. Martin Gallagher, Duncan Dyer, Geoff Bridge, Bruce White, Garry Trigg, George Foster, Des Wilson, Di Beechey & myself which gave us a chance to get some good work done.

The boys did an inspection of the BBQ area that needs some maintenance and removed some dangerous tree roots from the path, removed old fencing that was white ant ridden, measured up for a new door for the BBQ cupboard and repaired some of the railings. In addition to that they were able to get the tractor out on the course to continue the tree trimming at the 4th, 6th and around the dam area of the 4th green. Work well done.

Di Beechey did a good clean up of the car parks and underneath the clubhouse.

I had a lot of donated plants to place in gardens today which was a good day to do it as the ground was nice and soft - so that was my mission for the day. The tee areas of the 3rd ladies tee and the 5th tee were tidied up and a start was made on the garden at the 2nd Men's Tee.

Robin Incoll donated us two trays of Roheos which I planted out on the garden at the 6th & I hope that they do not suffer the fate of our previous plants there which were trodden on by players who preferred to walk through the garden rather than to use the designated path.

It would be nice if all players tried to be aware of the damage that golf shoes do to plants and avoided damaging them beyond repair. Thank you for your donation Robin & I hope we can keep them looking good as they are lovely mature plants.

The second lot of donated plants were from Margaret Pratt - which I planted out at the 2nd tee garden enhancing those that were already there.

The 3rd lot of donated plants were from Anne Burgess which are water loving so I have planted them at the edge of the dam at the Ladies 3rd tee where we will get a good view of them (when they flower) as we tee off.

Morning tea was appreciated today with Chef John preparing us some mini muffins still warm from the oven. Thanks John!

The day starts with a BBQ lunch at 11.30am followed by a 12.30 shotgun start.

There will be team events and stableford.

Cost $45 which includes lunch.
