Golf - Sunday 5th March 2011

We had a lovely cool day for golf today which was greatly appreciated by the players & encouraged some good scoring. Our playing partners were Dick & Joyce Bosley & we had a lovely day on the village green with some good highlights throughout the day. The boys beat the girls for the keno ticket but only on the last few holes. The girls held their own for most of the day & contributed some good team points - our main highlight was a four pointer from Dick at the 15th.
The Event of the day was a Team Stableford Split Sixes + Single Stableford for Men and Ladies.
We had 95 Starters with 6 visitors from Emerald Lakes Qld, Pennant Hills, Terrigal & Wyong.

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE DAY as reported to me: Jan Walker had a birdie on the 6th; Dick Bosley had a 4 pointer at the 15th; Joyce Bosley finished nicely with two 3 pointers; Brent Frewin chipped in for a birdie at the 8th; Peter Davidson had a birdie at the 18th - with a good audience watching from the balcony; Spencer Walklate had birdies at the 10th & 14th; Robin Brann found & returned my sand wedge that I left on the 3rd green which was a great highlight for me (thanks Robin!); Pauline Norman sank a 25 foot putt on the 18th for 6/3 which sealed the Keno Ticket for the girls; Des Wilson played a nice steady game with some good putting; Georgina Lamb was very consistent; Jan Van Den Berg had a 4 pointer at the 2nd; Lauren Matterson had a 4 pointer at the 17th; Col Matterson had birdies at the 1st and the 4th and parred the front 9 holes; Mary Ellis & Rosalie Dyer beat the boys (Duncan Dyer & Nigel Asken) for the keno ticket, Mary had 23 points on the front 9; Lorraine Bignall had 4/4 on the 4th hole, a 4 pointer on the 7th & played a nice sandie shot at the 14th; Wade Vandenberg & Craig Sharp both sank 9 metre putts at the 3rd; Kevin O'brien had a birdie at the 7th; Lyn Cruickshanks had 4/4 at the 9th; Clyde Cruickshanks had a birdie at the 4th; Annette Cross had two 4 pointers in a row at the 16th & 17th; Vicki Foster & Robyn Johnston beat the boys for the keno ticket calculated by a finish (after 18 holes) as a draw - however at the 18th hole the girls were two up ( having hit off the 10th hole first) thus qualifiying for a win on a countback ( that is their story and they are sticking to it); George Foster had birdies on the 2nd and the 7th; Kerry Cubis had a birdie on the 8th; Anne Forrester had a 4/4 par on the 13th; Vicky Morris had 4/3 par at the 16th; Bob Morris birdied the 13th; Vicky Morris & Shirley Daly beat the boys for the keno ticket; Leonie Casey had a good back 9; Richard Casey had a one putt for par on the 7th; Wendy Stapleton had a birdie on the 11th.
RESULTS OF THE PENNANTS MATCHES:
A GRADE: Lost 6/1 to Everglades at Morisset
B GRADE: Bye
C GRADE: Bye
JUNIORS: Lost 5/0 to Everglades at Morisset
My sources tell me that the juniors put up a valiant effort with three of the matches going to the 18th/19th & 20th holes against a strong experienced team. Well done boys!
