F-Troop - Monday 3rd January 2011

We had fourteen volunteers turn up this morning for F-Troop work which is absolutely fantastic considering today is a Public Holiday. We had tonnes of rubbish to pick up in the car park & around the course & clubhouse so it was a case of many hands make light work.
There was some high winds again in the last few days which brought down even more bark & twigs over the already cleaned bits which meant it all had to be done again. Areas covered today were the front car park, side entry path, back car park, BBQ area, around the Clubhouse, Wedding Garden, Putting Green, 1st and 10th tees, 7th tee, 6th tee and fairway, 13th tee, 13th fairway, 14th bush toilet area, 17th tee, 17th dog leg, 17th path to the 18th tee, 18th tee area, 18th green.
The large branches and fallen trees have been picked up which leaves us with our normal clean up routine next week.
Today we had Martin Gallagher, Duncan Dyer, Fred Middleton, Arthur Verlander, Des Wilson, Garry Trigg, Peter Murphy, Kerry Cubis, John Coddington, Peter Martin, Mark Stimpson, Jan Martin, Di Beechey and Jan Walker, one tractor & trailer, one ute, and one car & trailer and we worked from 7.00 am until 10.30 am ( Di Beechey started at 6.00am). We removed load after load of rubbish to the dump and the course was looking much better for the tidy up. The Car Park is now respectable as is the Front Entry & surrounds of the Clubhouse.
We decided to focus just on the clean up work today so very little else got done. There is always more work to be done out there and we could not cover all areas today so there will be more work waiting for us next week.
As it was a Public Holiday we did not have anything special organised for morning tea. With the influx of 14 volunteers we hurriedly organised some tea & coffee with sausage rolls from the Pro Shop & then Chef John arrived in time to supply us with some yummy mini muffins warm from the oven. Thanks John! Much appreciated!
It was a brilliant effort by our F-Troopers this morning. Tomorrow afternoon (weather permitting) at 6.00pm we are planning another blitz on the rogue grasses. Any volunteer who has an hour to spare who would like to help - you would be welcome to meet us outside the Pro Shop at 10 minutes to 6 when we will decide which of the fairways we are going to work on.
YES! WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!
