F-Troop Monday 22nd November 2010

We had a great day at F-Troop this morning getting my main mission for the day completed before morning tea which impressed me. It was a lovely sunny day and we had 17 F-Troopers on hand to lighten the load.
Today I saw Fred Middleton, Geoff Bridge, Duncan Dyer, Garry Trigg, Warren Gray, Bruce White, Des Wilson, John Coddington, Richard Casey, George Foster, Di Beechey, Georgina Lamb. Jan Walker, Yvonne Wilson, Anne Burgess & Leonie Casey.
Many hands make light work & it certainly seemed that when completing my mission for the day which was to clean & tidy the 17th dogleg garden which has become overgrown over the years with all the shrubs getting leggy & restricting one another's growth. My original crew of Garry Trigg, Bruce White and John Coddington quickly summed up the situation and we made an executive decision that a chain saw would be appropriate for some of the large rogue branches that needed to be taken down. We called on assistance from the "Tree gang" which consisted of Duncan Dyer (on chainsaw) & his support crew of Geoff Bridge(on tractor), Fred Middleton & Des Wilson. With eight of us on deck we decided that a good trim & weed would be appropriate to give the garden a nice clean & tidy appearance and it will also rejuvenate the tired shrubs that had been overgrown for years. In the middle of the garden we uncovered a lovely row of camellias that would make a beautiful feature of the garden. We also trimmed and sprayed the azaleas, weeded and raked the area so that it will not be so difficult to find wayward golf balls in the future. There is also a much clearer view to the green from the dogleg corner.
After morning tea Georgina Lamb helped me to do the final weed & rake so the area could be declared finished.
The tree gang then went on to complete some more tree trimming that they were previously interrupted from.
George Foster did the roughcutting shift today.
Warren Gray & Richard Casey were on loose timber & rubbish pick up around the course.
Di Beechey put in some hard yards at the BBQ & car park area having it in pristine condition by morning tea.
Anne Burgess was organising her kangaroo paws & mulch for the BBQ gardens.
Jan Walker raked & weeded at the front gardens of the clubhouse.
Georgina Lamb cleaned up the walkway to the Pro shop including cleaning the outdoor furniture & raking of the gardens at the clubhouse. After morning tea worked with me at the 17th.
Yvonne Wilson fertilized and watered the plants in the wedding garden & also worked on her garden at the 14th.
Richard & Leonie Casey did some hard yards after morning tea in the front drive gardens including planting in some new gazanias for some new colour in the garden.
Morning tea was very welcome after a hard mornings work & we appreciated the fresh from the oven croissants & jam with our tea & coffee. Thanks John!
YES! WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!
