The strong winds caused some havoc in the rose gardens today. I was lucky enough only to loose a couple of weakened rose stakes. The roses have survived so far with a couple of close calls - one with my long stemmed yellow climber being ripped off the fence and my "Don Bradman" rose coming very close to being decapitated by the umbrella from our outside furniture when it was overturned. I do not know how much damage has been done on the course but there is bound to be some branches (if not trees) down. F-Troop will be busy on Monday.
We had a very brave wedding party today who went ahead with the garden wedding at 4.30 pm & were lucky that the winds died a little around that time. The club was still busy at 11.00pm tonight with two functions keeping the place hopping.
The up side was that there was no rain to accompany the wild winds so that has to be some sort of bonus during the 3rd round of the Men's Championships. There were some great scores in so the wind did not bother everybody.
The Event of the day was a Men's Single Stroke - 3rd Round of the Men's Championships.
We had 189 starters with 3 visitors from Everglades and PGA.
