F-Troop Monday 18th October 2010

All members of F-Troop collectively give great sighs of anguish every time there are gale force winds on the course because we know what is waiting for us the following Monday. Today was no exception. We did not loose any trees in the wild winds of last Saturday but there was a lot of large branches and loose timber down all over the course.
We had Duncan Dyer, Geoff Bridge, Fred Middleton, Bruce White, George Foster, Peter Martin, Des Wilson, Kerry Cubis, John Coddington, Garry Trigg and Frank Whittington all putting in some good hours work to clean up the course.
Duncan, Geoff and Fred worked with the tractor underscoring low growing trees and managed to clean up two fairways.
Des, Bruce & George were on timber & rubbish pick up and started at the 18th & worked their way back through the course.
Kerry, John & myself were also on timber & rubbish pick up working from the front carpark to the 1st tee and then worked our way through to the 14th, meeting the other group along the way.
Garry Trigg trimmed the low branches on the Chinese Elm at the 6th and also trimmed the camellias at the 11th.
Peter was working in all directions and also set up some new watering hoses for me at the front of the clubhouse. I can now water all the front gardens without having to shift a hose.
Frank Whittington did a sterling job raking and tidying at the front of the clubhouse through to the putting green and 10th tee.
Morning tea was very welcome today as we had all worked ourselves to a standstill & we were looking forward to the break. Chef John excelled himself with providing some mini muffins - warm from the oven. Thanks John!
We welcomed Fred Middleton to F-Troop today as a new member. Fred is an expert orchid grower & is giving me some special assistance & advice with our new orchid garden that is materialising at the 1st tee. Kathy Small has donated some lovely orchid plants to fill the space & we are now looking for donations to cover the cost of some special orchid compost to complete the garden. The cost will be approximately $100 so anyone in a position to donate to this worthy cause would be very appreciated. Please feel free to contact me if you can help.
YES! WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!
