We had a lovely day for the President Vs Captains Day which is one of our well supported fun days that we look forward to each year.
My playing partner was Mary Ellis & we were on the President's side (blue) & our opponents on the Captain's side were Julie Hazzard & Chris Dekker (Red). We had a lovely day with some good highlights however Julie & Chris won the day for the Captain's side & had a good enough score to win a ball.
The Event of the day was the Annual President Vs Captain "Pinehurst" and we had 86 starters with 2 visitors from Terrigal.

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE DAY as reported to me: Lyn Bates & Sue Sobie (vs Leonie Casey & Evelyn Dixon) won for the Captain's side with Lyn doing some good putting; Sue Hutton & Di Beechey (Vs Rhonda Robertson & Anne Burke) won for the Captain's side but it was a hard fought match; Ronda Jordon & Ellie Van Den Berg (Vs Dorris Morris & Susan Bourne) won for the Captains side and had great holes on the 5th & 17th; Dawn Tromp sank a 40 ft putt on the 1st; Dawn also outdrove Wendy Stapleton at the 3rd hole which Wendy said was using tactics for the President's side - Wendy & Annette Dunk (Vs Dawn Tromp & Christine Drakeford) won for the Captain's side; Margaret Davidson & Judy Ruitenberg (Vs Barbara Stratford & Margaret Pratt) won for the Captain's side with Margaret having a gobbler birdie at the 5th & Barbara having a birdie at the 8th; Julie Hazzard & Chris Dekker (Vs Mary Ellis & Jan Martin) won for the Captain's side with Julie & Chris having a lovely par at the 15th & Mary sinking a great putt at the 14th; Fran James & Jan Walker parred two of the par 3's & took a long time to measure out their drives at the 8th for nearest the pin; Di Thomlinson & Ann Baker (Terrigal) (Vs Jan Fitzgerald & Doreen Vines) won for the Captain's side with Di scoring a nice birdie at the 17th; Helen Broadbent & Carmen Fitzgerald (Vs Carol Farrell & Chris Shaw) won for the Captain's side; Joyce Bosley & Felicity Mead had a birdie at the 14th; Robyn Johnston & Beulah Cant (Vs Allison Guthrie & Maggie Minjoy) won for the President's side; Fay Bailey & Yvonne Cumming played hot & cold; Kathy Small & Gene Rutledge won for the President's side; Lesley Gregory & Robin Incoll (Vs Sharon Anderson & Pam Witt ) won for the President's side with Sharon driving to the ditch on the 11th & Pam having a good putt on the 6th; Silvia Lee & Bev Adams Vs Lyn Cruickshanks & Linda Rogers finished just one point apart winning for the Captains side; Judy Verlander & Nerida Hancock (Vs Dawn Cook & Pauline Norman) won for the President's side; Rosalie Dyer & Merran Adams played a very competitive day & finished up square; my highlight was winning the fruit tray in the raffle.
Today was the first day of operations for the new Front Desk of the Pro Shop & everything ran smoothly. The change over was made right on target date so Project Manager Des Wilson is very happy with the renovations schedule. The new merchandise will now be displayed on the right hand side of the shop as you walk in where there is now a lot more room after the removal of the old desk. The Member's Lounge & washroom area is coming together & should be operational in the next few weeks.
