Golf - Saturday 14th August 2010

It was a magnificent day for golf & gardening today. Our golfers would have appreciated the improved conditions of the course after all the recent bad weather. The wind has done it's job and has dried the course out substantially.

Gardening was a priority with the Garden Competition coming up next month there is pressure to get our gardens looking their best. After visiting the plant nursery to pick up a replacement "White Iceberg" standard rose for the putting green gardens there were some 'specials' on offer for "Japonica Camellias" that were ideal to get our "Camellia Way" up to scratch so of course I took advantage of that & planted in 6 new camellias which will improve that area with 4 more to follow on Monday. When the new camellias mature this area will be a picture for months as the traditional winter early flowering sasanqua Camellias fade away they will be supported by the Japonica varieties that we have planted recently that will continue to flower through to spring.
The walk through from the 17th green to the 18th tee will be a special focus point of our gardens.
The golf event of the day was a Men's Single Stableford +Teams Event.
We had 202 starters with 7 visitors from Greece, PGA, Toukley, Trundle & Tuggerah Lakes.
