We always know we are in for a rough day after we have had wild winds for a few days & sure enough we arrived this morning to find a large branch of a tree down in the car park that had to be cut up and removed which was a large task to start the day. There was also a lot of loose timber & sticks down around the course so that was a priority for the day.
We were fortunate to have on hand our core group of F-Troopers and some welcome extras. Those I saw working today were Duncan Dyer, Martin Gallagher, Geoff Bridge, Bruce White, Peter Murphy, Des Wilson, Peter Martin, Richard Casey, Yvonne Wilson & Di Beechey.
The tree branch in the car park was taken care of by Duncan Dyer, Martin Gallagher & Geoff Bridge with the help of Des Wilson & Richard Casey. Bruce White & Peter Murphy did the general course clean up & the bins at the first.
Peter Martin, Richard Casey & Des Wilson settled in at the Pro Shop buggy rooms completing the buggy floor markings and the name tags so that the buggies can be installed in the correct order.
Some of the buggies have been installed but there is more finessing to be done & batteries to be moved over. This should be all in place in this next week so we will be off and running with the new buggy rooms. With the buggies moved out of the old room a move can be made to start the renovations on the new Member's Lounge.
Di Beechey took on a huge workload in the gardens today starting at the garden at the 2nd green and working her way through multiple gardens not even stopping for morning tea. Great effort Di !
Yvonne Wilson also put in a huge day in the gardens at the front of the club removing old plants past their use-by date, trimming & fertilizing the gardens under stairs, preparing the Magnolia garden for some fresh pansies due in a couple of weeks giving the garden a good turn over & some fertilizer. I started my day with painting a second coat of sunny golden yellow in the Pro Shop Buggy Rooms & then moved out to the "Camellia Way" with help from Bruce White & Peter Murphy to plant 4 more new camellias & to chip & weed around all of the camellias & to give them a dose of seasol. We also picked up all the fallen branches and sticks that make that area so untidy. A quick rake of the path at the 18th tees made a big difference to the presentation of that area.
Morning tea today was some lovely fruit pastries warm from the oven which we always enjoy. Thanks Chef John !
It was a long hard day but much was achieved.
