Introducing your new Pro Shop Team
The new Pro Shop Team has been announced and will commence duties on Thursday 1st July 2010.
As previously advised Scott Cubis is our Director of Golf & the successful applicants for the Pro Shop Team were Gavin Godwin, Michelle Toth and Tom Ballard.
Gavin Godwin and Tom Ballard are well known to us, being club members, and very proficient golfers.
Michelle Toth has an enviable golf record. Although not currently playing, Michelle has had a lot of experience overseas in USA & has a wealth of knowledge about golf. You can google her career statistics which are impressive.
We look forward to being able to benefit from their golfing knowledge.
F-Troop - Monday 28th June 2010
We had plenty of work on for the F-Troopers today. We had Martin Gallagher, Duncan Dyer, Geoff Bridge, Noel Fenning & Des Wilson working on the timber, taking down & removing dangerous trees. Warren Gray, Bruce White & Peter Martin worked on loose timber and rubbish pick up as well as removing old poor soil from the garden at the 1st tee and replacing it with good quality garden soil.
I busied myself with tidying up the putting green, wedding garden and the 1st tee area as well as starting some shrub trimming at the garden at the front of the clubhouse.
Morning tea this morning was fruit scones, jam & cream which was enjoyed by all. Thanks to Chef John for his efforts.
You should have all noticed that the table and bench seats have been returned underneath the clubhouse after being rejuvenated by F-Troopers Duncan Dyer & Martin Gallagher. Thanks Duncan & Martin - the setting looks great!
YES! WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!

Saturday 26th June 2010 - Heading for home
The final day of our week we were all up early for disembarkment from the ship at the dockside.
We were all off the ship by 8 o'clock & waiting on our golf clubs to arrive by road transport.
We collected our clubs & all set off on our separate ways home by 8.30 am. Some of us are spending more time in Brisbane or the Gold Coast - others are flying or driving straight home
or part thereof.
Our choice was to spend a night in Brisbane to refresh ourselves for the trip home on Sunday. We had chosen a special deal at the Medina Apartments which are right at the foot of the Story Bridge & proved to be a great choice. Our apartment had a washing machine & dryer & all the comforts for a one night stop over and in fact we wished we had booked an extra day. The apartment is walking distance from the city & waterfront restaurants. We chose a Hop-On/Hop-Off bus tour around Brisbane & had a good tour of the city & the main highlights. The bonus was that we arrived at the Medina at 9 o'clock in the morning & the apartment was available to us immediately which was fantastic.
Tomorrow we are back to reality & Lois will be back on the job reporting all the current local golf results including the backlog of last week.

Friday 25th June 2010 - Last day of the cruise
Another relaxing day with some decent sunshine to work up a suntan. Today we took charge of a couple of luxury lounges on the back deck of the ship & soaked up the sun for most of the day.
It has been hard work to get through this week of research on your behalf but it has been worth the effort even though the weather interfered with our golfing programme.
We all spent the day doing our own thing and met up at 5.00pm to have a group photo taken with the 150 other members of the "Go Golfing"" group. From there we went to dinner at the Palm Court Restaurant where the drinks were on "Go Golfing".
After that we had some after dinner drinks at the Piano Bar and then followed up with some late night dancing at the Bengal Bar to celebrate the end of the tour.
The week has finally drawn to an end and it is back to reality tomorrow when we disembark from the ship first thing in the morning and we all head our separate ways home.
I will be putting a detailed report, more photos and a review of the tour on my travel blog in due course. I will advise you when it has been posted so you can judge for yourself the value of the tour.
The golfing blog will recommence with local golf results from Sunday 27th June 2010 which will include back dates of the competitions of the past week.

Thursday 24th June 2010 - relaxing on board ship
It was good to get back into calmer waters of the Whitsundays. The seas at the Barrier reef were far too rough and many people suffered from sea sickness including eight of ours last night at dinner.
Everyone was looking much better today and we spent the day relaxing doing our own thing. Peter & I took possession of a couple of deck chairs at the back of the ship as we sailed through the Whitsunday Islands. The weather was changeable having the odd shower come over but mostly it was sunny if a little breezy. Others of our group played deck games and it was reported to me that the girls beat the boys.
We met at dinner that night & then went to see a floor show & then to the Champagne Fountain & laser show.
