F-Troop - Monday 30th November 2009

It was another busy day for the F-Troopers with plenty of work to be done. Fortunately the weather has settled a little and it was not as hot as it has been previously in the week which meant we could achieve quite a few more jobs on our "Bucket List".

Those I saw working today were Martin Gallagher, Duncan Dyer, Spencer Walklate, Warren Gray, Geoff Bridge, Peter Martin, Garry Trigg, Noel Fenning, Anne Burgess and Judy Hughes.

The boys started the morning with the removal of dead trees at the 13th fairway. We had some big rubbish pick ups to be done and raking of paths and untidy areas, filling in of pot holes in the paths at the 3rd and the 13th.

Our ducks will not be too pleased with the repair of their favourite pot hole on the 3rd that they use as a learn-to-swim centre for their ducklings. (see photo on previous posting). They do have an alternative waterhole at the 3rd. The pothole was getting so big that we would have had to build a bridge over it to get our buggies through on the path at the 3rd tee.

We also got the rest of our new trees replanted into good quality soil to give them the best possible chance to grow well. The tibouchinas on the 2nd have responded very well to replanting, the three limelights on the 7th are looking much happier and now the three Blue Ice at the 12th green should show some good response to the TLC.

I managed to get some new plants in at the shade garden at the Ladies 2nd tee and gave the gardens at the 12th and the 13th Ladies Garden a good watering.
The drains at the 7th tee have been cleaned of rubbish and dirt and paths at the 4th, 7th, 13th, 5th, 17th and 18th have been raked.
Anne Burgess and Judy Hughes put in a good mornings work at the back of the 10th green working in their camelia and boganvillea gardens.

We also managed to get a few low lying branches down & a bit of trimming.
In all - a good mornings work was done by all our workers today.
The original plan to remove tree stumps of Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of this week had to be postponed as our professional stump remover was not able to come this week. We are hoping that this project can be completed next week. However this will be subject to the professional's availability. I will keep you posted on the developments of this project.

YES! WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!
