We had a good representation of SEVENTEEN F-Troopers reporting for duty today. It was a nice day to get some work done and much was achieved.
Those that I know were working today were Arthur Verlander, Duncan Dyer, Garry Trigg, George Foster,Des Wilson, Warren Gray, Spencer Walklate, Noel Fenning, Peter Martin, Bruce White, Martin Gallagher, Anne Burgess, Judy Hughes, Yvonne Wilson, Jan Walker and Mary Bromwich.
Work done today included: Repairing some of the holes in our boundary fence at Racecourse Road (Thanks to Duncan Dyer, George Foster, Spencer Walklate), Re-planting crepe myrtles and abelias and watering in trees & shrubs at the 2nd tee (Thanks Arthur Verlander, Jan & Peter Martin) ; maintaining the steps at the Ladies 3rd tee by replacing the dangerous top step, placing artificial grass matting on each of the steps for better foot grip and setting in some new turf at the top of the steps, raking up loose timber around the 3rd ladies tee (an F-Troop all in effort) ; preparing the garden edge at the 6th tee for new mondo grass which is arriving this coming week as part of the rejuvinating plan for the 6th(Jan); new railings for the steps to the men's tee at the 8th(Thanks to Noel Fenning); A new shady seat at the 8th tee (Thanks to Des Wilson); raking and clearing up at the front of the clubhouse and 1st and 10th tees (Thanks Yvonne Wilson & Jan Walker); Watering and fertilising plants at the BBQ garden and the 18th (Thanks Anne Burgess & Judy Hughes); Planting of more Cliveas at the 17th (Thanks Mary Bromwich) Timber & rubbish pickup around the course (Thanks Warren Grayand Garry Trigg); Roughcutting (Thanks Garry Trigg); Martin Gallagher is still "at rest" after his recent surgery but found the time to come in a discuss the organising of the stump removals around the course.
The trees and Shrubs on the 2nd fairway can now be declared alive and doing well after their recent TLC project; the steps at the Ladies 3rd tee are still work in progress as there is still to be a safety hand rail to be added to complete the job. The seats & safety railing at the 8th tee are a good enhancement which the members should appreciate. The garden at the 6th tee underneath the lovely chinese elm is just about to be rejuvenated. F-Troop will be moving the seat from it's present position in full sun to underneath the shady tree. This garden will then be completed with some Mondo Grass edging and bark mulched with some feature plants to finish it off.
There are plenty of projects in the melting pot and a lot of maintenance work on our plate. Please feel free to come along and join with our regulars every Monday from 7.00am onwards to help out.

I was asked recently about when I had time to do my own garden at home - attached is a photo of the front garden now in full bloom and doing well. A love of gardening will always find the required hours!
